Mic Bethlehem arrived with pics - print issue?, by jamieb on Dec 18, 2008 15:43:36 GMT 1, just recieved it. All lovely although the printing is a bit weird. mainly quite heavy ink and glossy but some of the detailed areas ar very flat matt, more like GIWTBB.
Not sure if this is wrong. Anyone who has recieved theirs, are they the same?
Just a quick check up before I waste POW's time.

Just opened mine, was going to save it till I got home, but you got me worried. TBH mine shows the same effect as yours, some areas look slightly different as you say......rest assured its not just yours.....

My GIWTBB is that matt style all over. It really helps it look like charcoal.
Is yours also darker than the image on the Mic website, not so easy to make out the Banksy on the wall?

I can't study it too long whilst here at work as I have got loads to do, but to say I'm happy is an understatement. Just really pleased to have won one from the lottery as I never win anything.

if they are all like it then fine, but it's not a very good reproduction of the original. Lost lots of detail.
Having re read this it all sounds very negative. Think it's just the perfectionist in me coming out. It is still an amazing print in terms of size and power.

JamieB, how is the paper quality...straight edge or deckled? more pictures would be appreciated.

It's a cream paper with a slightly hammered texture and not quite deckled edges more like it has been torn a long a ruler, if you get my drift. Also it has a large white square screened first with black over which makes for a nice contrast. I will get more pics later, that was a quick iPhone one just to get the question out there.

JamieB - I can confirm that mine's exactly the same as yours. It looks great, but to be honest, I wish I hadn't seen the pictures of the originals as now I can't help but think the print could be more detailed and a bit lighter.
To my totally unexperienced eye, the quality of the print isn't as good as on my Peacekeeper - but I'm sure some one more knowledgeable about these things will probably explain that there's a reason for this.
That said, I can't wait to get it framed, most likely in the New Year.

You will always lose detail doing this (which is pretty obvious looking at the pics). Shame really as the finer details are lost on the reproductions. Give me an original any day. Please?
