Jose is friends with the gallery owner (there is a pic of them together in the supertouch link). $50 for a signed Jose Parla book is impossible...

Just got my Cityscapes. FYI, these are SECOND edition NOT FIRST. Great book, but not the first edition.

Compared to the 1st edition, the 2nd edition
has glossy paper
Copyright page text is slightly different
Several pictures are much larger('Calle Luna' and 'Accidents & History' being examples)
One picture is now much smaller('El Pasado Momento')
The insertion of 'Brothers Back to Back' which replaced 'Charming Avenue'
Much color correction, most dramatically on Autonomous Paths(looks quite different)
Overall, the second edition has better, more vivid reproductions. The watercolors, in particular, just pop....
There is no reason to track down a 1st edition and pay the cost unless you are a collector/completist. If you are just looking for Parla books, buy Cityscapes 2nd edition and the Elms Lesters Adaptation/Translation book and you're set.

both 1st and 2nd editions of cityscapes are softcover. layered days is hardcover.
