The next exhibition at the Laz Gallery..., by mcmcmc on Aug 16, 2007 15:48:17 GMT 1, www.lazinc.com/exhibitions/future/
Ho hum. A follow up to their underwhelming Paul Insect exhibition. I was hoping they would bring Micallef's paintings over from the states.

The next exhibition at the Laz Gallery..., by Strange Al on Aug 17, 2007 10:47:10 GMT 1, I reckon the blu stuff should be interesting....
It'll definitely be interesting to see how the works translate to a gallery space. The thing about blu that really appeals to me is the scale of the outdoor pieces. They're just stunning!
I'm really feeling the illustrative style of street art at the moment. My fear is that it doesn't really translate too well into the gallery space. Once you move it back indoors, you're essentially looking at illustrations and there are thousands of amazing illustrators creating works on paper and canvas. I'm not sure if Blu's work really stands out from that crowd.
Let's see if Blu can convince me otherwise.

The next exhibition at the Laz Gallery..., by carlito on Aug 17, 2007 11:00:14 GMT 1, what a downer just the most exciting street artist out there at the moment - love the way this thread started so pessismistic - lets give them a chance...yes i know street and gallery are different but its the same for any street artist, altho admittedly with Blu's pieces the jump is greater than for most...

I completely agree that Blu is one of the most (maybe even the most) exciting artists working on the street at the moment. Few street works by other artists come anywhere close to the recent Blu pieces. Though the street and the gallery are completely different environments.

The next exhibition at the Laz Gallery..., by pezlow on Aug 17, 2007 11:30:45 GMT 1, I know what you mean Jjoschi however I suspect that blu may be able to pull it off in a gallery context if the pieces are big enough. Something like a big metre wide canvas or piece of wood and then you are talking.

The next exhibition at the Laz Gallery..., by slowmo on Aug 17, 2007 12:15:01 GMT 1, Think that the LAZ gallery is too small. Should have hired a warehouse and done things properly. Blu as a street artist is recognised, but Eric the dog and Blu are far from high stock in terms of pieces to put on your wall.
A big warehouse with massive main piece and other large pieces may well have been a better way to go about things. But hey, I am just assuming that it will be at the LAZ gallery and could be pleasantly surprised

The next exhibition at the Laz Gallery..., by stuey09 on Aug 17, 2007 13:49:30 GMT 1, There's a Blu on ebay at the moment (not mine, though I do know the seller). Nice example of a pen and ink original. Item number 250155411059
If it gets sold as a result of my plug, the tight arse might just buy me a pint ;D

The next exhibition at the Laz Gallery..., by rpoul on Aug 30, 2007 9:27:25 GMT 1, Good Morning Guys
Just walked past Laz this moring and the front of the gallery has been covered by a Blu piece and the same goes for one of the walls in the passage next to the gallery. If this signals that the walls of the gallery have been "decorated" as well i think this exhibition might well be worth a visit (allthough the walls are not big i know!). Does anybody know if you need an invitation to visit the gallery tonight?
Sorry i did not have a camera so no pics :-(
cheers

The next exhibition at the Laz Gallery..., by Andy'77 on Aug 30, 2007 9:42:49 GMT 1, Yeah, I e-mailed Laz about it a couple of weeks ago, it's family and friends only tonight, open to public tomorrow. Hope I get a chance to pop to London before it closes, reckon it'll be a good show even in the small space.
