Several Banksy finishing this evening..., by xhitsthespot on May 21, 2009 11:19:10 GMT 1, Always wanted to ask why do people list Banksys on eBay with "User ID kept private" ?
Puts me off bidding right away and I suspect a lot of people think the same

Several Banksy finishing this evening..., by rob on May 21, 2009 11:45:33 GMT 1, Because there are people out there that would message the potential buyer to try to sell their own prints without having to list them on the bay. My thoughts only....

This is FAR less likely than the seller manipulating the auction and I agree 100% it surely puts a lot of people off bidding for expensive items as it detracts from the transparency of the auction.

Several Banksy finishing this evening..., by lobster on May 22, 2009 8:46:06 GMT 1, Not another "Bargain" guys !!! What about the signed "flying copper" that went for £3500 or the "4 Soup Cans" for £4K in the last week or so.
Surely these are just the correct prices for the market at the moment ?

I actually think this was a bargain; I agree with you on most previous points that the word is overused, but when signed Trolleys are £1,400 (ed. 750) and S&S are around £1,700 (ed 500), then a signed Morons (ed. 300) at £1,750 is a little on the cheap side. I would personally value this at around the £2,000 mark. Feel free to argue otherwise Mr Lobster

Several Banksy finishing this evening..., by lobster on May 22, 2009 10:30:36 GMT 1, lol - good point as ever Huw !!!
What I tend to find is the prices at the LOWER end (trolleys, S&S etc) I agree are making a slight comeback whereas the prints around £3K really seem to struggle.
As you know mate NOTHING would please me more than ALL Banksy prints to start gaining value again but unfortunately I think we are a long way away from that scenario and of course that reflects in ALL urban art - I am not a fan at all but everyone tells me that the Neates on here are CRAZY money and lets face it every other post is selling a Micallef at less than cost ? Even Parla watercolours seem to be struggling - I was offered a lovely one the other day at £10K which is not THAT much more than they were new (6.5K I think) and as you know that is an artist I could really do with "taking off" !!! I still feel the long term is very much the key and it will be VERY interesting revisiting these threads in say 5 years time much the same way as it is now reading the threads from a couple of years ago - £1000 for a CWSB - isn`t hindsight a wonderfull thing !!!
