Paypal Advice, by Harveyn on May 28, 2009 16:21:15 GMT 1, Need some advice on Paypal seller protection.
I am about to post an item via Royal Mail Special Delivery that has been paid for via Paypal and is a confirmed delivery address.
Its a valuable item.
My question relates to proof of delivery. Paypal states the following.
Proof of delivery is acceptable documentation if a buyer files a claim, chargeback, or reversal for either an unauthorized payment or merchandise not received. You need online tracking information from a shipping company that:
1.Shows the status as delivered. 2.Shows the date of delivery. 3.Includes the recipientโs address, showing at least the city/state or ZIP code (or their equivalent). 4.For payments of $250 USD (or local currency equivalent) or more, includes proof of the recipient's signature to confirm delivery.
My question is how do I get proof of the recipients signature? Surely if they sign for it using a fake signature they cannot then just deny its their signature?

Paypal Advice, by afroken on May 28, 2009 18:36:44 GMT 1, Any courier company will have an optional signature service and an additional optional service meaning only the recipient can sign, so proof of ID is required. To be absolutely certain, I would go for the latter option. I've been stung by this before.

Paypal Advice, by Harveyn on May 28, 2009 22:14:46 GMT 1, Cheers V. The buyer ended up sending an echeque from an unverified Paypal account and a unconfirmed delivery address. I cancelled the echeque and opened an Ebay dispute. What really pisses me off is that before accepting his offer I had him confirm that his account was verified and address confirmed. Even worse was I had a second bidder who bid the same amount. His feedback was better but I honoured the person who made their offer first.
