Don't think thats too far away as the museum is at the top of Park St. You pass the hanging lover on the way:

Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by Bram on Aug 5, 2009 21:07:48 GMT 1, Just got back from the exhibition. The queue was 2 and a half hours but worth every minute.
There are loads of warnings about the last entry being 4:30 and the museum closing at 5 but we came out at 5:00pm and they were still letting people in. Despite the 3hrs drive, 2 1/2 hrs queueing and 3 1/2 hours back, it was still a great day!!!

Im still hoping they extend this way past September, and that it gets a bit less busy near the end.

Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by trowel on Aug 5, 2009 23:17:52 GMT 1, The museum already has their next exhibition lined up to start in early Sept, so unless they do something like scale Banksy down to a single room, it ends when it ends. You'd hope they have some sort of contingency plan, like keeping some of the work on permanently. But let's not forget it'd cost them.

Yeah, I should think at least a few will stay on display there permanetly Its good for Banksy and good for the Museum.

Jantalb, check out the following websites to see whether the trip is possible:
www.thetrainline.com (TRAIN)
www.nationalexpress.com (BUS)
It looks like a bus (national express) from Gatwick to Bristol goes via London and takes 5 hours so don't bother with that option!
You could get the Gatwick Express into Victoria and then a bus from Victoria to Bristol Uni (around a 3 hour trip plus Bristol Uni is very near the show)
Otherwise get a train to Reading and then another from Reading to Bristol Temple Meads.
Enjoy

Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by Fragile on Aug 6, 2009 16:19:44 GMT 1, If anyone is interested, and in Bristol on Saturday 15 August...
Borders, Bristol
Banksy's Bristol: Home Sweet Home 2:00 pm, Sat 15th August 2009
Steve Wright, author of 'Banksy's Bristol' will be in store from 2pm signing copies of his fantastic book.
Home Sweet Home is a celebration of Banksy's street art in his home city of Bristol. This book places him in the context of 3D, John Nation from the Barton Hill Settlement, Inkie, Nick Walker and the other artists and musicians who were instrumental in linking Bristol to the original New York hip hop scene. It is the most revealing account of Banksy's formative years and contains more than one hundred images of his Bristol art, as well as pictures of Banksy at work, many of which have never been published before. Steve Wright, Venue magazine's Art Editor , traces Banksy's roots back to the rave culture of the Nineties and draws a rounded picture of an artist who is most famous for being anonymous.

Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by robertlondon on Aug 9, 2009 1:48:30 GMT 1, Saturday 8th August After the 4 hour traffic-jammed hell of the M4, I settled in for the 2 hour queue snake 4.20pm - and they just closed the doors to about 250 people!
Needless to say - everyone pissed off. People shouting etc etc
I can't help thinking that the museum could've put people out of their misery a lot earlier rather than allowing them to stand there for the full 2 hours. They must, by now, have a good idea of how many will get in before their deadline and should act to stop people queuing fruitlessly.

Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by Bram on Aug 9, 2009 10:49:57 GMT 1, That's very bad form. They should have enough experience by now in assessing the queue time / length. Even though there are loads of signs indicating the 4:30 close, they should have given a fair verbal notice.

Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by laing on Aug 10, 2009 13:59:27 GMT 1, Went on Friday (7 Aug). Arrived in Bristol at 8:20, dropped the wife off to join the queue (around 30 people at this point). By the time I had parked and returned with breakfast and tea the queue wrapped up around Browns and had filled 2 of the lanes set up. Got in on the first wave and spent a good 2 hours soaking it all up. Absolutely famtastic and hoping to get back to see it again. We worth the wait but deinitely worth getting there early. Passed it again later that day and the queue didn't seem to have an end to it! Also went to Oxfam over the road to pick up some stickers but they are completely sold out now.
