Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by G-Man on Jun 12, 2009 20:22:23 GMT 1, I agree with redman, it all has its price
All will be sold for tens of thousands to the people who have that sort of money to spend on art
As most of us on here dont, then we will never know what happens to them or may be lucky enough to see them exhibited in years to come

Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by trowel on Jun 12, 2009 21:05:33 GMT 1, Yeah, go to Temple Meads, then take the number 8/9 bus - about £1.50 will see you travelling up the steep folly that is Park Street (keep an eye out on your right at the bottom of Park Street as you cross the short bridge past College Green - some work by a famous bloke on a wall...). Get off at the next stop at the top, outside the 8th Wonder of the World, The Berkeley - the wonder is how Wetherspoons keep attracting me to such a sh1thole ;D The museum is directly opposite, next to the little building with the tower (Wills Memorial Building - where I went to uni!)

Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by etched on Jun 12, 2009 21:56:21 GMT 1, As much as I hate to say this, I think this is a really poor excuse for a show. Remember what we're seeing coming through are the edited highlights of the better stuff. Everyone's blindly trotting out all kinds of sad trainspotter worship garbage but can't we be honest? It's all regurgitated, old idea stuff. I can appreciate it's there's an element of it being retrospective greatest hits and the monkeys in parliament is seriously blinding-but after that can anyone point to ONE genuine new theme? It's the same old anti police, anti hero graffiti artist, same basic juvenile stuff ....I mean god, how many years ago was crude oils?- let's move on for everyone's sake Banksy we need you to prove all the doubters were wrong. cant swallow that - its called progression - see all other artists for an understanding

If you don't like subversive juvenile humour, then yes, I am afraid Banksy is Incredibly repetitive. You should just move along, there is no deeper meaning or world changing artist hiding underneath.

Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by Carnage NYC on Jun 12, 2009 22:18:25 GMT 1, Here are some more Banksy homecoming pictures from the preview. The show is totally awesome. His pieces are inserted all over the place in the permanent collection, plus pet shop redux, lots of statues, lots of canvases, a peak into his studio with stencils and drawings and s**tloads of free hot dogs!

i know this may sound stupid but did anyone bother to ask for a preview? i had heard there was a decent amount of work at cheaper prices, so maybe if you contacted pest control saying you were interested in the cheaper pieces they said yeah

Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by Coach on Jun 12, 2009 22:21:23 GMT 1, I'm a huge Banksy fan -like everyone here, but we'd be nothing robotic idiots if we don't use an intelligent perspective. Everyone can criticise Hirst for churning out spot, butterfly paintings and the same formaldehyde money spinners but when Banksy does it, it's fantastic! amazing! the work of genuis. It seems to me Banksy is suffering from self love. He thinks everything he touches is great because he surrounds himself with fawning worshippers. Many who are on this site. He has the talent. He has the potential, but he needs make the great leaps he's capable of if he's ever going to leave a meaningful legacy. Right I'll leave you piranahs (sorry, experts) to it.....night.
I am assuming you have not been to the exhibition yet. Isnt this like reviewing a film having only seen the trailer? Why dont you wait until you have seen the exhibition before dismissing it?

If you're disappointed from what you have seen, well thats just fine, but for me, can't wait to check it out.
