Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by fuzzed on Jun 14, 2009 14:28:03 GMT 1, just travelling home now. What a brilliant day, the show is absolutely amazing, everything in there shows why banksy is the best at what he does! I will definitely be going back over the summer. I bet i'll check the photos online (been trying to avoid them until i'd been!) &realise i've missed loads! Also dropped into the north street garage to see the finished pieces from upfest. Nice one for opening that up steve &crew!

Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by Deleted on Jun 14, 2009 14:42:59 GMT 1, Visitor numbers for this exhibition are currently very high. Owing to the nature of the building and the collections it is important that we limit the number of people in the Museum at any one time. These restrictions sometimes lead to queues forming - waiting times can be up to 1 hour, but it is worth the wait! Currently last entry to the museum is 4pm.

Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by deckstar on Jun 14, 2009 14:52:41 GMT 1, if you are in bristol for the banksy show its worth heading over to Bedminster for UPFEST at the moment we have the garage on North Street open with lots of art for sale from some great artists. Starting off from free up to £100. Also as a special treat SPQR is showing his skills spraying some new pieces for us all to enjoy!

Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by Andy'77 on Jun 14, 2009 18:22:11 GMT 1, It's a difficult one, I love the backpacked mouse with the spray can in amongst the normal display. The running riot police were great too. Liked the Heavy Weaponry piece that was there as well, in fact there were some many great pieces it's hard to choose just one or even five. Top show.

Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by Agent Provocateur on Jun 14, 2009 18:57:54 GMT 1, The Sunday Times Culture section has an email(!) interview with the man himself, absolutely hysterical All his answers are classic...
What is the difference between graffiti and vandalism? Graffiti is only vandalism when it's done very, very well.
Blek le Rat told me that all street artists like to hang around after they've painted something and watch people looking at it. Do you do that? Not unless I've painted the wall of a pub.
Okay, here's the big one: why do you do what you do? It started off so I would have a story to tell; then I worked it so hard, I had nothing to say.
How is the recession affecting you? In recent auctions, your work has not been selling as well as it used to, has it? After I did a show in Los Angeles, the attention weirded me out so much, I refused to sell anything new for two years. So most of the money was made by smart people who bought stuff ages ago and sold it on. I used to hate the perception that I was making tons of cash, until I realised how much it annoyed the graffiti purists and the Daily Mail. It's only the way I can offend some people, so now I talk it up.
Apparently Christina Aguilera bought your picture of Queen Victoria as a lesbian. What else does she own? No idea.
What about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie? What have they got? Six kids, with probably another one on the way.
Might as well have typed it all in! Some really interesting answers tho...

Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by trowel on Jun 14, 2009 19:13:14 GMT 1, This just arrived in my email, with the topic 'Banksy to Banksy - Monkey see Monkey do' (same title as this thread). Anyone seen this at the show / know anything about this? It's in the back of the cage with the painting monkey, with a few lines of verse above the typewriter (can't remember exactly what). The theme of the piece seems to be along the lines of the old monkeys/typewriters saying. Not his strongest.
