Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by butterfly on Jun 15, 2009 13:52:20 GMT 1, The show is absolutely mindblowing.
It really demonstrates how well Banksy knows this museum with all the gems hidden everywhere, like a treasure hunt. It's exciting to discover one piece in the middle of regular installations.
It's also been fantastic looking at people's reaction towards a couple of paintings or stuffed animals, not realising what they were. I also saw a couple of children trying to attract the Monkey painter's attention. That was priceless.
I will definitively go again a couple of times.
I could have spent hours looking at the sketches and ideas in the Banksy studio room. That was fascinating.
Some confirmation about the "Bling Kid" in Dalston

Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by doublehelix on Jun 15, 2009 13:53:18 GMT 1, Can I just say how absolutely-fucking-fantastic the show is and if you don't go - at least once - there will be a massive Banksy shaped void in your life. I missed a bundle of stuff and I spent 2.5 hours looking around on Sat. Will def be heading back once it's all calmed down a bit.

Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by silvermyn on Jun 15, 2009 14:13:19 GMT 1, You'll have to delete that comment if new Banksy prints are released through POW later this month...
BTW that is not inside information, I have no info on scheduled releases.

Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by doublehelix on Jun 15, 2009 14:27:39 GMT 1, PC and POW are joined at the hip. Dora was at the preview on Friday, so I don't think anyone has lost their golden goose, or monkey. Just odd that they've not put the show up on the site yet. They are probably all catching up on post install / post party sleep.

wtf are you talking about, this wasnt a POW event so why would they announce it? It was announced via Pest Control and Banksy's website. Did you not notice when you went to the show, that POW staff were working there?

If you have a look at the POW site you'll see that on the left hand side of the screen there are a number of shows highlighted. None of them are POW events as far as I'm aware... yet still on their site.

Not true* *no inside info Fair enough, pure speculation comment from myself. Im sure POW and Banksy are pals but are you suggesting POW will still release Banksy work after the pestcontrol site statement. Has anyone tried the tea in the museum ?

Did you not notice when you went to the show, that POW staff were working there. Some people really do talk some s**t on here it wasn't about them announcing it, it's just that their website now shows current art shows and there is no mention of the banksy show (that is what I thought was odd - nothing more, nothing less ;D). I know that banksy/POW/Pest Control are all one big happy family ;D
Maybe when they get back from the show they will update their site, plus i guess given the announcements were made via Pest Control and Banksy's own website is/was enough. but for someone to suggest its down to "sour grapes" is a load of bollocks.

If it's the result of free beer, I think that counts.

Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by lee3 on Jun 15, 2009 15:44:27 GMT 1, I'm now sitting at my silly computer on a Monday morning in SF and that whole weekend reads like a dream now. Pitty it came and went so fast though very happy that I can't get it out of my head. I wish I knew how to embed this video as others have done above but I'm a bit slow with technology. I've been a shutterbug for years but am finding video to be a lot of fun and not nearly the mountain to climb that photoshop is with a bunch of stills:
edit: If you are watching this on a PC (as I just tried at work) you may want to turn high deff off (on the right side of the video) as otherwise it is painful to watch on the processor on this machine. On a mac you should be fine.

Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by buffin on Jun 15, 2009 16:38:50 GMT 1, Yes agree with the Monkey Parliament as the best new work there. Loved no ball games when it was at Dreweatts but didn't think it looked as good without the tv. Wonder why he changed it?
Great to see some old school stencils in the studio mock up and the Heavy Weaponry was very nice.

Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by Daniel Silk on Jun 15, 2009 16:41:47 GMT 1, With the popularity of this show I would imagine more shows like this in the future could be on the cards ;D
A group show from Bristol Artists including Banksy would be nice.

Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by Daniel Silk on Jun 15, 2009 16:47:55 GMT 1, I'm 1000000 % sure that if there's gonna be a print, it will be the donut van guarded by the police, maybe also the artist drawing a d*ck or the starving child with the 'I hate mondays' T-Shirt.
Yeah, the composition and style of this one really looks like a print release was in mind -
