Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by ashby on Jun 29, 2009 11:45:53 GMT 1, I am planning to go to see the show in early August and I naturally plan to see all his remaining street pieces whilst I am there. I wondered what else is good to see / do in Bristol whilst I'm there.
A few decent pub / restaurant suggestions would be appreciated as well.

Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by Sundowner on Jun 29, 2009 12:11:33 GMT 1, Went to the show this morning, queue not that bad although arrived early (9:40am) and queue was getting longer as we waited. In by 10.20am, fact so many people crammed in I found detracted from whole experience for me, felt like an ant following lots of other ants. Once out of ground floor crowds thinned out although that said got a bit fed up with cocks and cockettes barging past to the Bankys to take photos. There are a lot of great pieces in the museum and at the risk of getting chucked off the forum quite a few are not by the local artist!!!!! Hopefully get a chance to go back again when less people although that might be wishful thinking, Mr B a top man for putting show on but after awhile the joke wears a little thin although maybe it is the crowd that rumoured my sense of humour a little this morning.
Yeah I went yesterday with the missus and onemandown72. We got there about 1.30pm and ony ended-up queuing for 30 minutes or so to get in.
The show was good but far too many people in the Banksy room downstairs, which is where everyone was directed when they went in. The highlights for me were the "Monkey Parliament" and the riot cops running through the grass. I couldn't believe how big those and particularly the American couple in the rickshaw were - they are HUGE!!!! Quite a few "old favourites" too...No Ball Games, the artist painting the p***s and "Go Flock Yourself".
There was so much to take in in that room, particularly in the workshop area. Loved the photos from Mali and also the Nola which had been put together using about four different images to get what we see today. Interesting to see the "Ghetto-Blaster Kid" from Dalston Square, but I DIDN'T see the "Last Exit before Motorway" (sorry Zippy). Also, check out the level of detail on the Queen Vic stencil - awesome!
Just a couple of words of advice for those going....don't leave the main Banksy room until you're done. They won't let you back in and you'll have to queue again. Also, staff were getting really p***ed off with people using flashes on cameras.
The pet-shop was good fun, althought Tweety Pie wasn't moving much. The sausages were making a really disturbing noise - don't stand too close, it's horrible!

Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by shower on Jun 29, 2009 14:04:44 GMT 1, the guy behind me (who when i pointed out a mighty mo sticker to my girlfriend, also pointed it out to his but said to her it was one of banksys images - i laughed) asked the lady on the door as you entered the museum if this interest was usual. She said that the museum has never seen this many people and she estimated between 5000 and 6000 people had been everyday since it opened!

What are they selling exactly? I seem to remember that members of staff at the show were wearing Oxfam branded fluro vests.

Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by fuzzed on Jun 29, 2009 18:25:01 GMT 1, I went back to the Banksy show this weekend with my girlfriend and I'm sure there were some new additions that weren't there on the opening weekend. Could anyone confirm whether these were there or not? -
This rodent was with an item which looked like a piece of clothing with dragons on it. The write up had nothing to do with rats!
I may have been too excited and not noticed them the first time round but I'm sure they weren't there!

Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by hobo on Jun 29, 2009 22:51:42 GMT 1, Cheap Eats - Thali Cafe at 64-66 St Marks Rd does great Thalis (obviously) and is just round the corner from Clik! Clak! Booom! - Teohs at 28-34 Lower Ashley Rd does authentic thai and malay and isn't far from Love Is In The Air - Cafe Kino at 3 Nine Tree Hill has more soul than Starbucks could ever hope for and is round the corner from Mild Mild West - Magic Roll at 3 Queens Row does wraps and is just round the corner from the exhibition - Boca Bar at Unit 3.1 Paintworks, Bath Road is a bit pricier but does amazing pizzas and mezze and has a big Inkie/Mr Jago collaboration outside.
If you're looking for something a bit special (and more expensive), Bell's Diner at 1-3 York Road (www.bellsdiner.com) and Bordeaux Quay at V-Shed Canons Way (http://www.bordeaux-quay.co.uk/) are worth the the extra money.
Pubs - The Golden Lion at 244 Gloucester Road has been painted up by Voyder and co and has live music - White Lion on Sion Hill has a terrace with great views of the Clifton Suspension Bridge - The Farm Pub on Hopetoun Road has been painted up by Xenz and has a good beer garden
Other things to do in Bristol - Weapons of Choice gallery at 14 St. Michaels Hill (www.weaponofchoicegallery.blogspot.com) - The Cube Cinema at 4 Princess Row (http://microplex.cubecinema.com)

Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by panniertank on Jun 30, 2009 12:05:44 GMT 1, With grateful thanks to Hobo, this is what I found last Saturday, listed in order as detailed by Hobo. Generally I was only looking for ones that I hadn't seen before. Took around 4 hours starting at Stapleton Road Station and walking to Park Row.
Masked Gorrilla (I took this photo was taken in April this year, no change from what I could see).
Cat and Dogs
Click Clack Boom was quite badly tagged so I didn't bother
Freehand Sunrise
I couldn't find the designated picnic area stencil, nor either of the Heavy Weaponry's.
Take the Money and Run
Mild Mild West, as I have seen it before, I passed it by.
Rose on a mousetrap, now 'framed' on the wall
Sniper
Grim Reaper, again I have seen it before, so didn't make a detour
Man out of window, partially restored
Wildstyle on Rollermania
Playing it Safe, Pro-Cathederal Lane
Playing it Safe, Stafford Road
I didn't check out the Tiger and Barcode, nor the others detailed above
