Banksy 'yellow Rain' Nola, by jB on Apr 23, 2009 7:14:46 GMT 1, I'm a Hearing Healthcare Practitioner located in the U.S. - If anyone can provide some further information I would love to be able to help this cause and possibly donate some digital hearing aids of sorts
will a donation of hearing aids help this function?

Banksy 'yellow Rain' Nola, by retardthebear on Apr 23, 2009 9:27:51 GMT 1, If you think the red dot is odd and the yellow rain looks strange, as a new concept is being foced upon a peice that it wasnt designed for, then perhaps its becasue Mr B wanted to donate but didnt have time to come up with a whole new concept for it. Something is better than nothing, yes!

Banksy 'yellow Rain' Nola, by Deleted on Apr 23, 2009 9:30:55 GMT 1, sheeesh talk about 'defensive' with terminal velocity! I don't think anyone disputes the gesture / generosity of what B did - but ppl can also point out what they think of the piece donated
personally I think it's time for Nola to take a break

Banksy 'yellow Rain' Nola, by Prescription Art on Apr 23, 2009 13:25:15 GMT 1, I think in this instance, the link with deafness adds to the image. Being Deaf can be very isolating, and the way she now seems almost trapped inside this umbrella symbolises this rather well I reckon.

Banksy 'yellow Rain' Nola, by twist65 on Apr 23, 2009 13:55:54 GMT 1, I think its rather nice to see experimentations on images. Banksy obviously put a little extra thought into this charity piece rather than just giving out an existing AP. Whether you think the red dot adds or detracts to the image you can still see the thought process and care taken with the image and thats all good in my book. The reasons behind the dot being there makes it a worthwhile addition and I would be happy to hang it on my wall!

Banksy 'yellow Rain' Nola, by snausages on Apr 23, 2009 17:21:10 GMT 1, Another benefit piece that is a rework of an already conceived piece. Again Mr B is trying to force a new concept into a piece that the concept wasn't designed for. The red dot just doesn't look good and isn't necessary. I'd take this to a restorer and have that red removed if I owned this. Just donate a piece of artwork, I don't see the need to try and make the art be relevant to the cause, especially when it looks forced. Bottom line is its a charity ffs, while you may not appreciate the donation, I am sure the organisers, the cause and the bidders are more than delighted to receive this piece from Banksy and all the other artists and donors. No one forced Banksy to DONATE it for sale, no one is forcing you or anyone else to bid/buy a ticket and donate to a worthy cause. Sorry to get you all worked up again big al.
But ffs I still think you should just donate a piece of artwork, I don't see the need to try and make the art be relevant to the cause, especially when it looks forced.

Banksy 'yellow Rain' Nola, by snausages on Apr 24, 2009 1:41:06 GMT 1, shame my son cant just go to a restorers and have his cochlear implant removed you selfish c@nt I apologize if my comments were mistook and insulting to you. I understand that having a son with that kind of condition must be emotional at times, I sympathize and certainly don't envy your situation. But even still, I don't really appreciate being called a selfish c**t because I critiqued an artwork.

Banksy 'yellow Rain' Nola, by Agent Provocateur on Apr 24, 2009 8:02:48 GMT 1, There are topboy, but it's all a bit hazy atm! The great Eine unique print went for around 2.5k, the lovely Hush Geisha canvas for approx. 1.5k, Grafters near ยฃ750, there were three Lucy Mc prints that got up to just below 1k. Alan Carr bid on quite a few and Rays Winstons daughter Jamie MAY(!) have bought mine, just to many bevvies I'm afraid to be certain , but it went for ยฃ450 which was a lot more than I thought it would
Again, quality night and big up Inkie for a great event.
ps feel free to correct me if I'm out on any of those prices

Banksy 'yellow Rain' Nola, by Grafter on Apr 24, 2009 8:11:58 GMT 1, Prices seemed to be all over the place probably due to most people being extremly pissed and most things ending up in a bidding war between Alan Carr and Jamie Winstone but there was a few collectors/dealers who snapped up quite a lot between them.
Off the top of my head, this is what I can remember,
Ed Chemical bought 3 Lucy McLoughlan prints for ยฃ1500 Hush - Canvas ยฃ1700 Copyright - canvas ยฃ850 Mysterious Al - set of 4 prints - ยฃ2000 Pure Evil - ยฃ800 Ben Eine - 1 off print ยฃ2000 Zeus - Hand Drawn piece ยฃ1100 David Choe - Watercolour ยฃ1500 Agent Provocater - Canvas ยฃ550 George McDonald - Canvas ยฃ800
Unfortunatley I was at the bar when they sold mine and didn't get to hear what it fetched, so if anyone knows......
Big shout to Inkie and his little band of helpers for getting this done and the after party was Proper Badass........Chemical Brothers and Mark Ronson on decks.
