If that is the case then it's a very good price, although i would have thought quite a bit higher due to the complexity of the print and number of colours used.

Those Eine ELTON's are brilliant prints ;D I have the two normal versions, and the quality of them is amazing! You really need to see them in the flesh to appreciate them fully.

Also the HELL prints are also worth a look if the Elton's are out of your reach. HELL Yellow is only £150 over on -

It looks amazing, want one but sure what background would go with my Elton dark.
Gold background can't wait to see that one, price sounds fair for all the work put into it.

Looking very nice, not sure if the gold or the black will be the one to go for.

Looking at the work in progress shots on the Nelly Duff blog, I reckon they might be clean cut.

Linked in white on my post above. Do look clean although seem to remember to of the early images on the blog having an overspray effect.

The show will be held at a secret address to be revealed just before the show on the 7th May, behind a roller-shutter near us : )

Record Attempt

Screen-print with the most colours (x 77) pulled by hand over an edition of 150 artworks, resulting in nearly 12,000 hand pulls required to be millimeter accurate in every pull.



Screen Print Process

Screen printing has been used for centuries and was widely popularised by Andy Warhol in the 1960s. It is a hand process stencil method of print making in which a design (C) is imposed on a screen of fine mesh (D) attached to a frame (E), with blank areas coated with an impermeable substance, and ink (A) is forced through the mesh with a squeegee (B) onto the printing surface (F). This process is repeated for each colour in the design, forming layers to produce the final image.

Details

_The process is highly precise and dexterous, fundamentally requiring the printmaker to be highly accurate when aligning the paper or in the finished print the individual colours will not come together as a whole and the artwork will not be accurately realised, thus the print is ruined.

_Before each new screen is pulled, the paint from the previous stencils must be dry, but the paint must not be allowed to dry on the stencil/screen because it could again damage it.

_We are proposing a minimum of 77 colour individual hand pulled screen process in an edition of 150 artworks.

- This record attempt requires a printer to repeat a dexterous aligning process and pull the minimum of 77 screens by hand an epic 11,550 times.

_It is taking 6 weeks to attempt the world record

_The process has been monitored by 2 professional adjudicators and is supported by their signed statements. These will be available for viewing upon request.



EINE background.

EINE's work can be seen all over East London and the UK (and other cities across the world) on shop shutters and across buildings. This print is based on the alphabet he developed by painting derelict shop shutters, hence the parallel horizontal thin lines on the top of each letter developed from the grooves in roller shutters. Interesting pricing...

I agree that black looks best. Still can't decide whether it's going to end up better than the Alphabet City print, more colours but less letters. Pricing seems reasonable, but can only afford one if I let my Alphabet City go. Hmmm....

I went for black and then imagined it framed and on the wall and decided that white would look best. Chuffed to bits! My 5-year old daughter can spot an Eine shutter from 400 yards. This is going to look great outside her room.
