Damien โข Opium, by Winter on Jun 13, 2010 9:17:19 GMT 1, I offered this a year ago at ยฃ3.5k. I forgot this thread existed. I'm surprised no one bought this off me for that price. My wife doesn't want me to sell it now and even if she did I wouldn't sell for less than ยฃ5k. Classic Hirst and a highlight of my collection.

Pity I missed it then!!!!
I have found another one available and you (your wife) are correct wth your current valuation.
I also agree with her for you not to sell, but worth a chance!
Thanks again

Damien โข Opium, by mafekingnuns on Nov 24, 2010 21:39:28 GMT 1, Hi All,
Some answers to a few questions:
Yes the print will come with a receipt/COA/proof of purchase from Eyestorm (this will be ready next week as they need to remove it from the frame to check the edition number).
Yes the print is conservation framed by John Jones.
No, the signature hasn't faded (this was a problem mainly on the Valium prints - my Valium print is currently with Damien waiting to be re-signed).
Yes I am open to offers, but as it stands these would have to be above rather than below ยฃ4K (however, the right buyer is just as important as the right price in my opinion).
Yes I will ship worldwide.
And finally, yes a new kitchen would be nice, but wouldn't you rather have this hanging on your wall?
Hope this helps

Damien โข Opium, by als33 on Jul 1, 2011 4:20:04 GMT 1, Not necessarily saying it's fake, but that signature looks different than the one on my Opium, which I bought from source. Although it's not the most legible, mine is definitely "Damien Hirst" rather than "D Hirst" which is what it looks like on the Ebay print. Also, it looks like the one on ebay was signed with a different kind of marker, one with a finer nib.
Now, I swear I read a post here but I can't find it - I think it said that Hirst re-signed some prints on request because the original signatures were fading (and mine has, in fact, faded from when I bought it), but it would seem if this were the case, that the print would have a faded and a non-faded signature, and this one doesn't.
Again, I'm not saying that any of this necessarily means the print is fake, but I just thought I'd offer up my thoughts, for whatever it's worth.

Look back in the old threads as cannot remember the name but one of the very knowledgeable members tore apart a Hirst piece that was being sold by a member. Not in a nasty way!!! He just new the pieces. Might give you some pointers to check before anyone buys these would advise to be very careful with eBay Hirst's

Damien โข Opium, by johnnyh on Jul 2, 2011 8:47:22 GMT 1, Think unless you really know what your looking at it is really hard. So think provenance, coa if avail and the source you are buying from.
As far as I understand the opium's are high on the list for lots of fakes.
The thread I mentioned was called swop Hirst for a Banksy or similar. If you find this and cannot remember the author or the member who was really knowlegeable. But the member new the paper sig etc etc.
I have Hirsts but new none of it. Hence the point to be really careful with eBay etc.
Buy from reputable auction houses - not a gaurs tee but safer. Buy from other criteria as it's all real. Both these options a bit more exspensive but much safer.
Dreweats had some that did not sell at the auction the other day so you can make an offer and ask the provenance etc.
Hope that helps
Johnny

Yeah..I've emailed the seller a few questions and didn't like his answers so I think I'm scared off. He was selling it for $2500 USD and I told him that honestly that seemed on the low side. He said "It IS - but I've listed it 2 times on Ebay and I've not made the $3,000.00 reserve - hence the discu=ount. I'm losing too much money if I list again."
I've also asked for pictures of the # on the print since the # on the COA doesn't do me any good if I can;t see what it matches and any references he has.

Damien โข Opium, by gironawatch on Jul 3, 2011 22:16:10 GMT 1, this mail is from hem:
I used to have a gallery in Malibu California but I couldn't pay that high rent and remain profitable, so I started doing sales online malibumodernart.com/
That will be a full e-commerce site in August.
About 20% of my business is online now - I started with Ebay a few months ago. I have a lot of private clients and I also work with a lot of decorators here in LA and Palm Springs.
I don't keep much inventory, I seek out pieces for clients and I purchase good deals and try to sell them at a fair profit. I've been able to get some good pieces lately at a good price, but you really need a global audience these days to find the best buyers.
