The Leonard Street Gallery, by darrenrapley on Jun 30, 2008 22:57:37 GMT 1, Not yet. It is the only pub in Hastings with 4 Eines hanging next to the toilets though! If it wasn't for that and a small Stella Dore sticker behind the bar you wouldn't know. I keep trying to stick random POW and Mau Mau stickers up there. (Sorry Paddy if you read this!!!)

The Leonard Street Gallery, by Deleted on Jun 30, 2008 23:10:04 GMT 1, Well... i was in London last week on Friday and had a couple of hours spare so i called at Leonard St. Gallery on the off chance i could find something, i spoke to James on the intercom thing and was let in, a lot of the works were in bubble wrap and he said that they were really busy clearing some of it so they could make space for more secondary market works to display and sell but he was very helpful and unwrapped a few of the works for me to look at. He didnt mention anything about closing the Gallery and invited me to call in again next time i was there.

Not sure Romany. I'd give the Dragon Bar 100 Club status due to the SGs held there. Nice concept though.

The Leonard Street Gallery, by curiousgeorge on Jul 1, 2008 8:22:06 GMT 1, what would be the wise thing to do if one has a pending order?
Assuming the doors are still open, go to Gallery ASAP and collect what is owed, or goods to value of. I know this worked for someone else recently

Not you to Gary? When you consider where the rumours say this went it does not read to well. My personal experiences with TLSG were always great.

The Leonard Street Gallery, by onemandown72 on Jul 1, 2008 12:38:16 GMT 1, I was having a chat with my missus about the whole situation at TLSG last night, and as always nothing in life is ever black and white - and certainly in this situation very, very grey. When something spirals out of control, it is never in isolation, there are always other people involved, some of which don't want to see what is coming, some of which genuinely can't and some of which profit from the situation, then disappear just as before the proverbial hit's the fan. Whilst a lot of people have been quick to judge on what they have been told, I see this as running a lot deeper than one individual mismanaging a business for personal need. For all, I'd exercise extreme caution in laying all the blame at the door of any one person, as the art world, like any other is small and there will be other people keeping stum and allowing the dust to settle before re-surfacing. Again if artists have been unpaid / and a charity left unpaid / buyers left without work this is both wrong, and criminal and should be dealt with accordingly.

It is pretty black & white for me. The people that took my order and the artist's money should go to jail. End of story.

The Leonard Street Gallery, by eddiedangerous on Jul 1, 2008 19:17:52 GMT 1, From the site..
I am very sad indeed to say that yes the Leonard St Gallery does owe me a large sum of money, many tens of thousands in fact, even sadder though is the fact that most of that money is owed to The Mercy Centre Foundation a charitable organization that I have helped and followed for some time now.
The gallery knew when they asked me to make this sculptured edition for charity that they would never be able to pay me for it, and that it was just another bit of quick cash to pay the next person off, maybe the artist before me, or the artist before them or even the artist before them, it’s a long line believe me! Not only could they knowingly never pay me, the logistics of releasing an edition of that scale and hand finished without them not being produced first did not only make me look bad as the artist, it made many of the people who supported me over the years angry, and now in light of the Leonard St closing its still leaving people empty handed. If you have been stiffed like I have by them and can’t get your money back through your credit card company.
I’ll do my best with the remaining statues that I HOPE to have returned to me, to see you right.
On a very dark note, it seems that not one penny of the tens of thousands of pounds raised through this will now ever make it to the Children of Klong Toey. I have been promised by the gallery Director James Golding that even though the Gallery is going bust, that he will see me right and pay me out of his own pocket the money that he owes me as well as the other artists, but due to being fed lies upon lies upon lies this past year I believe its just another crock of shit created to keep people off of his back.
Trusting a bunch of wannabe Nathan Barley Shoreditch trendy’s was a bad idea, I take my hat off to a good friend and graffiti artist for warning me off people like this, but due to my lack of British television in Asia I was blind to the ‘’Barley’s’’ I am however now up to speed with this type and will avoid them in the future thanks to him. (Sorry Dred, you were right, I owe you a Vinnies).
If your reading this Mr Golding, which no doubt you will, you’ve lied to me, shook my hand then broken deals, and continued to fuck me knowingly for months now, not only have you done it to me, but you have done it to many other artists, clients and dealers. It’s a fucking wake up call James, stop living your millionaire art dealers life style on other peoples money, stop believing your own lies, and sort everyone the fuck out with all of the sly dosh you've made by selling my canvases without me knowing and art collection you’ve built up.
A classic quote, '' telling anyone about this or making it public won't help you or anyone else get their money back'' Thats what they all fucking say!........... Dealing with any of the clowns associated with this gallery will just end in you loosing your money for their enjoyments.
I hold no blame what so ever on the wonderful staff at The Leonard St Gallery, all of them have been a huge help and very plesant people to work with, I feel very sorry indeed for them to have to deal with this mess the gallery owners have created with their lies and bad management, and wish them the best of luck in finding new jobs, I'd vouch for any of you.
*** If anyone needs, names, telephone numbers and addresses please contact me at root@artcunt.com***
I personally feel like gathering up some friends and teaching this guy some real eastend manners... and I'm not affected by all this shit, but hate to see people theiving in this way under the guise of business. I hope he serves time.

It appears he is not only a great artist but a smart guy!
