creases and value, by Mobu on May 8, 2007 12:46:23 GMT 1, Hi,
To my disappointment I have just found out that my signed jack and jill has some small creases running across the middle of the print. You cannot see them unless you hold the picture in a certain light which is very fortunate, but I wonder if any of you have a good understanding on how this will affect the value?
I must say, I wished I noticed this when I bought it a while back.

creases and value, by saajid22 on May 8, 2007 13:00:57 GMT 1, i bought an Angel bomber light 2 that was mint on ebay last week for £419. a few days later a creased Ab 2 went for £350 ish. it was even in the title of the ebay listing about being creased and obviously didn't put people off that much. having said that i wouldn't be buying something that wasn't as good as new unless there was a serious discount and it wasn't noticable when framed.

creases and value, by insite on May 8, 2007 13:51:38 GMT 1, red shat-at, creased, sold £109 olive shat-at, A1 condition, sold £102, both sold same day. Seems some buyers aren't all that bothered by a few creases, pity I thought I might get a star wars bargain for my 8 yr old son.

I think most creases look ok when the piece is framed up and under glass

Maybe you should contact eelus direct, there was talk months ago of the possibility of unsigned unnumbered prints possibly being available from him directly, worth a try.

creases and value, by insite on May 8, 2007 14:28:43 GMT 1, Cheers CBL I'll give that a go, it seems we're now a second generation star wars family and although he'd be as happy with a poster off the market I'd like to get something that could be appreciated a bit longer.
Silky, don't tell 'um all that, all your creased prints are worth a fiver pm me and I'll buy 'um all.

After all, I am talking about a J&J signed so it will be worth a few squid either way
I dont think I will ever part with it so perhaps the creases dont bother me that much.

creases and value, by paulah on May 8, 2007 15:11:38 GMT 1, My Grannies got a crease in the middle - it also managed to get a mark and dinks - just from going in and out of the tube a few times. I took it to an established screen printer (not a restorer) and he managed to get the mark off easily - suggest I soak it and put it between hardboard weighted down for the dinks (I so did not! - didn't trust myself at all!) - but sadly the crease was just nothing you can sort. Once creased always creased. You can't really see it framed though - it only matters when you come to sell I guess.
I'd probably buy a creased print if I knew about it and it was cheap. I'd happily buy some of those returned morons from pow for the RRP!

I have only just noticed a crease on my signed gangsta rat... Im gutted and I cant stop looking at it now. It must have occured when it was framed (As that was the first time it was out of the original POW tube)... Can you sue a framing company?

Just been to the Sothebys preview for next weeks sale. There were at least two pieces there, both sketches, one by Frank Auerbach and the other by Bridget Riley with a series of drawing pin holes in the corner. The Auerbach appeared to be float mounted but was actually held in position with three very old drawing pins. ( the 4th corner had no pin but four pin holes! And the estimates, well they were both between £120-150,000. Look after those prints but it appears that over the years a few imperfections won't render them valueless!

creases and value, by gordy on Jun 16, 2007 14:08:40 GMT 1, I remember a thread a while back where people had been pinning up some of the old banksy's..... ;D
I suppose it's not too bad if you can frame so you can't actualy see the imperfections etc....
