Good places to get Frames, by Run Pig Run on Nov 12, 2006 18:38:04 GMT 1, anyone know where I can get a 60x60 or a 70x70 black metal frame. I've tried all the websites given on here but you can only seem to get 50x50 or 50x60. I want to frame my D*face Hate print but I hate wooden frames.

Good places to get Frames, by foundation on Nov 12, 2006 18:49:20 GMT 1, BH google custom made frames, there are a few companies that will custom make both frames and mounts to your specified dimensions, usually quite respectable in their pricing too. There is one company on the ebay forum that keeps getting recomended, but cannot remember their name, when i looked for the same idea a while ago there seemed no shortage of companies offering this service. goodluck and post a pick when its all done and dusted, the Mrs doesn't like the Hate prints so mine get to live a reclusive life until we get a new house.

Good places to get Frames, by jon0 on Aug 15, 2007 16:52:00 GMT 1, Hi guys- time this thread gets revisited.
check out
www.eframe.co.uk
they have an extremely nifty custom frame designer. you could spend all day playing with this clever thing- it even gives a good quality picture of what your frame will look like and you can fiddle with different sizes and colours and mount combos
I have just ordered frames for some Obey prints that have been lying in tubes for ages and need to go on the wall. (yes all you Obey haters I've heard/read it before
6 black wooden frames (13mm wide cushion shaped black coloured picture frame moulding) with single mount (in black) - mount cut 20mm borders and conservation standard backing board with all fixtures and fittings (incl, of VAT and delivery) for £35 per frame. Not bad delivered and considering it is custom cut to fit the 457mm by 610mm prints.
I'm going to attempt framing the 6 prints myself and depending on the finish and quality will decide what to do with my others. reckon MrFrameMan needs to take care of SBFO, AFD and a few other 'one of a kinds' and gifts that will need float mounting etc.
pictures to follow- and any words from others who have used this site please share.
(I hope I did the right thing by ordering the mount opening to be 3mm smaller than the image??)

Good places to get Frames, by stradled on Aug 21, 2007 5:23:14 GMT 1, I can highly recomend a framers in Paisley (Just outside Glasgow) called funnily enough PAISLEY PICTURE FRAMERS... They took £115 to frame up my recently purchased "Flying Copper" (thanks Banksy of England)... All done in acid free and to concervation standard... Lady was most helpfull and advises me that this is not the first Banksy she'd framed Oh, no... She has recently framed up a "Have a Nice Day" for someone in the area... *slips on burgling shoes*
That is quite close to me, and I may give them a short after your experience going well.....although I am tempted by the framers which are very close to me with which also has a very thoughtful name of "Muirend Picture Framers".
Will check both out and post back on experience.

Good places to get Frames, by johnas on Sept 24, 2007 23:46:42 GMT 1, if you're not scared at having a go at framing, can i suggest hobbycraft!
i was passing by the one in Swindon last month and stopped off to see if they had an A1 frame and was gobsmacked by the choice in there! Loads of ready made frame choices (wood, metal), colours, sizes and designs. Plus you can buy all the other extras you need - acid free card, backing board, glass (inc non reflective), mount board etc
the website doesn't list their stock but if you get the chance, pop into one and have a look.
www.hobbycraft.co.uk/craft_techniques/technique_17.html
p.s. they didn't have a fookin A1 frame though!

Good places to get Frames, by Run Pig Run on Sept 26, 2007 17:52:25 GMT 1, only one problem with the old hobbycraft, the frames are all in inches except the the metal frames.
worth a go though especially if you have something thats not a standard size, but you are more than likely going to have to get a mount cut for it.

Good places to get Frames, by voodoo1967 on Jul 21, 2010 20:26:11 GMT 1, For Frames and especially mounts I have always used www.cadremont.co.uk/shop , I should have posted this before as they currently have a 20% off sale , dont know how long it lasts for though .
They will cut any size or shape mount, same goes for the frames. I previously ordered a chunky type frame with a pinstripe mount - never seen those before anywhere else

He has been doing all of mine for a couple of years now and he is a great guy. He knows his stuff and he takes the time to find out what you want.
And no, I'm not on commision, lol.

Good places to get Frames, by voodoo1967 on Oct 13, 2010 20:06:09 GMT 1, If you are based in the UK ? - I use www.cadremont.co.uk/shop - for mounts and frames and reportage overlays. What I would do is get it framed and mounted . But make sure the mount is bevel cut and CHECK that the angle on the bevel is not too low. For example a 25degree bevel will put your print close to the glass - where as a 40 degree bevel will put it further away. The deeper the bevel the more focus it tends to give to your artwork.
If you buy a frame - then there should be a link to also order a single mount as well, give them a call if you get stuck - either Paul or Aaron are the ones I normally speak to.

the two framers in brooklyn who imo do quality work are:
frameitinbrooklyn.com on 3rd Ave 718 788 7404
and
San Art Framing on 7th Ave in Park Slope 718 857 0629 (talk to Rainer)
maybe give those two a try...good luck!
Edit: may also want to give Rae from Brooklynite a shout - I'm sure he'll have a good source for you....

Good places to get Frames, by voodoo1967 on Mar 16, 2011 19:29:25 GMT 1, I have used www.cadremont.co.uk/shop/picture-frames/ Great people, they display their prices online, they've had repeat orders from me - and if you order £120 or more you get the delivery for free. My last order was for a black inca frame - more importantly for me was the mount with a pinstripe around the edge - I reckon this was responsible for me selling a piece for just under five hundred a few weeks back. Shop around is your best bet though - that's what I did - and always do. It depends on your budget I suppose, and if your selling your artwork - how much you think people will pay for it.

Good places to get Frames, by ashton on May 23, 2011 15:01:59 GMT 1, Hello all, first time post!
Just discovered this forum, saw it mentioned a few times on www.Expressobeans and thought I would check it out.
In regards to this thread, I thought that I could mention that I can supply all kinds of framing stuff (including tapes, cord, d-rings, framers points etc).
You can buy lengths of moulding to cut and join yourself, or if you didn't fancy cutting it up, you could go for a chop service so that you join the frame yourself. Alternatively, you could order a bespoke sized frame which I would make and send to you.
We can offer various glazing options from regular float glass to museum.
Another option, if you didn't want to frame a print yourself, is that you could send your artwork over and I would do the full job for you. I can create frame mock-ups in loads of different mount/frame combinations and email them to you so that you can see what your print would look like framed
There are 2500+ mouldings to choose from. Here is a link to the website, take a look around:
www.bramptonframing.com/
You could also have a look at the facebook page to see some pictures of previous framing jobs. You could also be our friend too which would be really lovely indeed!
www.facebook.com/pages/Brampton-Picture-Framing/168948093135201
Feel free to send me an email or PM, or give us a call if your feeling sociable and fancy a chat!
Hope that I haven't broken any forum rules or annoyed anyone with this post...
Cheers
James
