Good places to get Frames, by dreadnatty on Jan 2, 2016 16:10:21 GMT 1, Hi, I have been custom framing pretty much all of my art work since day one, costing me in the range of 200-600$/ frame. All with Museum glass. Alternatives have been few & I find you lose so much with over the counter frames.. Am I paying too much? What are some good alternatives to framing less expensive work? I dont think you're paying too much in NYC.

Good places to get Frames, by rjf76 on Jan 6, 2016 10:44:37 GMT 1, Have some lower value pieces that would like 'off the shelf' frames for. Know all the usual places but does anyone know where can buy frames with spacers? Don't always want to frame mount but don't really want print touching glass! Cheers

Good places to get Frames, by avec art on Jan 6, 2016 12:07:23 GMT 1, It's really not difficult to make your own spacers. You can use wood strips and double sided sticky tape to adhere them to the glass (the tape can be cut down the centre to make it thinner).
Moreover with wood spacers you can paint them any colour you wish, do this before setting in place. You'll also need to make sure that the frame itself is deep enough to allow room for the spacers and backing board, and you can always adapt them to fit the frames you have.

Cheers You can buy custom spacers from here:
www.3dframing.co.uk/index.php/
pretty cheap at about £10-£15
Just make sure you buy a frame that has a deep enough rebate to house the spacer you choose. The spacer will come as one big square which will fit snuggly inside your frame if you get the measurements right! You'll need to add some double sided tape to keep it in.
Here's an example: I bought a standard box frame and mount from one site. Ordered the red spacer from bevian and put togethor.. Obviously you dont need the mount if you get the right size frame to match your artwork.

My two most expensive Banksys were framed by John Jones and Pauli frames both in London, not cheap but excellent.
MFM will also collect from London easily enough and their work is excellent too.
But its London and im sure there are lots of fantastic framers and some of the locals will be along soon to give you better advice than i could ever do coming from rural Aberdeenshire !

Good places to get Frames, by Midula Dey on Apr 1, 2016 21:31:03 GMT 1, Hi,
Depends what you are looking for. For my own art I tend to go to framers (but that's because I'm either exhibiting them or selling them directly and want to get the framing bang on.) I've found a couple of great places but would only suggest you use them if you are looking to float mount, box frame your pieces.
Frame Land on Brick Lane www.allinlondon.co.uk/directory/1124/108810.php The guy was a saint, and helped me come up with a great frame and option including size for a print, very reasonable too (I thought he was going to be very expensive because he was on Brick Lane. Plus he was the only one who was able to frame my piece last minute.
You can also try Puck Studios Dalston I'm about to pick up some frames for art I'm selling. Haven't seen what it looks like yet but the options of the frames looked great, and they work with lots of artists and screen print as well - They're just opposite my studio from the Print Club.
www.puckstudio.co.uk
If you don't want any fancy framing then I've heard best4frames is really good, and reasonable. They even have a service where you design and make up your own frames including wall mounting etc. I've not used them but I know someone who runs a shop, and she gets all the art prints done via this
