Ripples, by alderevans2007 on Jul 10, 2007 11:52:55 GMT 1, Sorry if this has been mentioned before, but I cannot find a thread.
When your print is rippled because you foolishly flattened it too quickly, is there any way that you can get them perfect again? Has anyone ever done it? Can restorers do it? Ironing is out of the question. What about some sort of stretching?
Any help would be great.

Ripples, by paulah on Jul 10, 2007 11:57:27 GMT 1, I'm not recommending this at all - but a screenprinter told me you can soak these kind of prints and then put between board and weigh down to re-flatten.
I didn't try it - but a friendly printer might do it for you.

Ripples, by alderevans2007 on Jul 10, 2007 12:00:54 GMT 1, Sounds scary, but I think I would rather have no prints than rippled prints, so I will have a ring round. Thanks!

Ripples, by andrewd on Jul 10, 2007 12:56:53 GMT 1, I once read on a hi fi forum that the way to un warp vinyl was to set the oven to a certain temp., place the record between two pieces of glass and bake for a minute! There were even a few people who tried it and said that it worked wonders. As for soaking prints and cooking vinyl you won't find me doing any of that!!

Ripples, by paulah on Jul 10, 2007 13:00:45 GMT 1, me either - only what I was told! Don't do it without double checking it out...
Think Mammal2 actaully took an iron to one of his Banksy's at one stage...
None of this is recommended though - remember the value of your investment may rise or fall and your house may be repossessed...etc etc

Ripples, by dave313perry on Jul 10, 2007 13:02:11 GMT 1, Im persuming the prints arnt water based inks!!! you never know if you try it with cheaper prints!!!! i would be highly dubious though as according to our printer moisture in the air can cause him all sorts of problems!! maybe though, im interested to see if anyone has the balls to try it, to see the results!!!

Ripples, by paulah on Jul 10, 2007 13:06:05 GMT 1, alderevans - if you are near cambridge and want the printers details drop me a pm
ah - just read you are selling them. Probably not worth it then

Ripples, by Mobu on Sept 4, 2007 12:53:06 GMT 1, Hi, I had the same problem with my signed Jack and Jill and indeed my framed put some weight on it to get the ripples out. I can honestly say that my print looks more better now as 98% of the ripples have been removed. Mo

Ripples, by snakes on Sept 5, 2007 17:29:50 GMT 1, I'm not recommending this at all - but a screenprinter told me you can soak these kind of prints and then put between board and weigh down to re-flatten. I didn't try it - but a friendly printer might do it for you.
The above is correct, just dont soak the affected areas, just lightly moisten (and on the rear of the print and not the face).
Has worked for me on a couple of occaisions

Ripples, by Run Pig Run on Sept 9, 2007 18:39:07 GMT 1, i always roll the print back up pop it back in the tube for a week and then let it unfurl for a couple of days then begin to flatten it.
