Framing advice needed, by dirk on Jun 11, 2008 19:45:13 GMT 1, I am looking at getting a couple of Failes framed and really want to put them in my kitchen. It is a big kitchen, but on occasion can get some steam from cooking food or burning toast etc. I also let people smoke in this room.
My question; when my prints are framed, will they be protected if they are sealed or could they still get damaged? (I can obviously stop people smoking but the cooking may still be a problem!)
Thanks in advance for any help and advice.

Framing advice needed, by frames4u on Jun 21, 2008 0:07:22 GMT 1, It is never a good idea to hang pictures in areas where humidity levels are high or even changeable. While the backs may be sealed there will never be a complete seal between glass and frame at the front and if there were it would mean your artwork is in a completely sealed environment whereas it should "breathe" a little. I would advise against it.

Framing advice needed, by bobbyt23 on Jun 21, 2008 0:10:23 GMT 1, I did see someone had some prints in their bathroom, cant remember who, but surely this would be risky?
How would you have to seal a frame to deal with this??

Framing advice needed, by frames4u on Jun 22, 2008 23:42:06 GMT 1, It is possible to seal the front of the frame with silicone sealant between glass and rebate of moulding but only advisable if the item is of low value e.g open edition print or photo that can be reprinted.

Framing advice needed, by Wiseblood on Jun 23, 2008 10:09:46 GMT 1, mrframeman has a barcode in his bathroom, found this by him
Great Collection MFM. Hey, is that Barcode in the bathroom? Awesome. Except for Bono, all is v cool. Great Matt Smalls also. Yep, Right opposite the shower! Love Rat above toilet! Rebate tape, aluminium backing tape and water resistant Cori board on the back - Nothing gets in there! If framed correctly there is no problem hanging works in the bathroom! Just think of all that extra wall space! ;D
