Print Restoration, by outandabout on Apr 17, 2009 7:53:08 GMT 1, I have a Signed B/W trolleys that I purchased at the start of the year. I got it at a very good price as it has damage... some small creases within the print, one that looks like a grease finger mark as well as some ripples - sounds bad but it is not a huge amount of damage. I would like to get this framed up but I know all I would see is the damage.
I am trying to find a good print restorer and don't know much about this. Not even sure if damage like this can be fixed. I'm in Bristol and have found on google someone called Andrew Wheeler and was wondering if anyone has used this person in the past or if someone can be recommended?
Thank you.

Print Restoration, by robinbanks on Apr 17, 2009 8:44:50 GMT 1, This is the link for the Institute of Conservation:
www.icon.org.uk/
This is the link for their Conservation Register, a kind of Yellow Pages for certified restorers.
www.conservationregister.com/Searchworkshop2.asp?CS=RESTORATION
Use the drop down menu and select "prints" then enter your postcode to find the nearest one to you.
Silky has been asked to make a thread like this a sticky before but he obviously has more important things to do like banning people for questioning the artistic merit's of Tox's "work".

Print Restoration, by robinbanks on Apr 17, 2009 9:10:25 GMT 1, No worries - it's unbelievable what they can do. I've seen discoloured, hundred year old canvases with rips and holes restored almost good as new.
EDIT: obviously this sort of highly-skilled work doesn't come cheap, but the value it adds will almost certainly outweigh the amount you fork out.

... and you don't want to mess around with a signed Banksy; always worth paying that little bit more and getting someone who comes recommended or accredited (for peace of mind and quality of job).

Print Restoration, by Poppy Sunshine on Apr 22, 2009 10:27:08 GMT 1, I previously had a ridiculosuly cheap quote of £45 per picture to rectify creases from Railings gallery in London. Also, I believe Mr. Frameman has a guy he can put you onto over his way.
