That's because people that own these put bids on to make sure the price goes high. Pretty pointless really as this will reach the good price it deserves.

I can guarantee i've not put any bids on, i never do on my auctions... as you say especially pointless with a banksy, as they all pretty much go for what they're worth.

happen to me a little while ago, wont mention which print but i hate when they come back with a second chance option when you dont outbid them, after that i prefer paying someone else higher than to them

Sometimes people bid knowing they won't win just for the satisfaction of winning an auction for 5 minutes before a proper bid is made. There are also definitely bids from people on eBay just to "protect" their investment to make sure it doesn't go to cheaply

I think there are two types of bidding that raise prices

1) true shill bidding when a related person to the auction owner bids up the piece
2) bidders who have a similar piece who don't want it to go for less than they think its worth or they paid for it

Two different categories, but the same effect except sometimes 2) will pay if they think they have got a bargain

On the other hand, i am getting a bit concerned at how quickly it's rising. I hope i'm not just going to end up with a non payer, i've already had one guy through ebay asking me if it's been shill bidded!

Yeah there's not a lot i could tell him! I basically said no but of course i can't prove it, as opposed to yes and i intend to shill bid it up to 10k ;D

Thanks for the interest mate, but to be honest i'm not exactly sure what the current value is on this, which is one reason why it's on ebay. Also, i really couldn't be bothered answering the mass of pm's i'd have if i tried to sell it though here, so for this one i think i'm just going to let it reach the end.
