Banksy NOLA wanted, by simonf on Oct 21, 2009 18:47:29 GMT 1, think you might have missed the boat on the grey rain!..... it is a lovely image, and seems to have been going up in price... they were about 2.2k not long ago... but have been creeping up lately.... 3.5k does seem to be the highest... but you know what ebay is like once one goes for a high price everybody wants that price....

Banksy NOLA wanted, by leecd on Oct 21, 2009 18:49:11 GMT 1, To be far wouldn't be surprised if that wasn't bidded up. There is no feedback on the sellers account yet and others on ebay have sold on or just over the two grand mark. If I could get anywhere near 3 grand I would be started to get tempted to sell my Nola lol

Banksy NOLA wanted, by simonf on Oct 21, 2009 18:50:30 GMT 1, also bearing in mind a jack and jill went for 4.5k and a reaper around 5k... i think (imo) nola is a better image and a lower issue number so bearing all that in mind 3.5k doesn't sound too bad.... more than i can pay though sadly

Banksy NOLA wanted, by They call me Stephen on Oct 21, 2009 18:53:51 GMT 1, i think the £3,500 white rain nola has been seriously shilled with brp's offer being much more in line with this print's true value. wouldn't be suprised if £3,500 would actually get you a grey rain nola, i have heard of one or two going for that ball park but as with anything it is finding a seller willing to sell at that price

Banksy NOLA wanted, by lobster on Oct 21, 2009 20:00:58 GMT 1, simonf - with the greatest respect I think you are confusing items on ebay that end on a certain figure and actual sales.
Since January of this year I have a big investment in Banksy prints and I would estimate that on at least 20 occasions I have bought prints by various artists from who had people who had previously "sold" them on ebay. For this reason I think looking at ebay "sales" / expresso beans is actually pure fantasy and although a guide in my opinion a very inaccurate one of what the prints are likely to really sell for.The latest example of this was the recent festival print that was "sold" on ebay - I contacted the seller who told me that it had been sold , done deal etc - I received a mail today saying they had been messed around terribly and it was now for sale again - on one occasion I bought a print from a guy who had "sold" his print on FOUR separate occasions on ebay and each time the "buyer" failed to pull up the money !!!
I don`t buy / sell stuff on ebay so I cannot comment whether this is indicative of ebay or just art prints - I also believe that on some occasions the prints are deliberately "shilled" up and therefore the last bidder is left with a vastly overvalued print that he can`t afford or maybe bidders simply get carried away and when they have time to reflect they then pull out.
£4.5 for J&J , £3.5K for a Nola - these are joke prices and I am sure there are a number of people on the forum who can source these prints for nearer half these figures.
The other problem is that this actually slows the market because it gives sellers a totally unrealistic expectation of what their print is worth - because they see a J&J go for £4.5K they feel that is the going rate and the reality is that they will of course NEVER sell it at that price but of course they are convinced they will get that price for it.

Banksy NOLA wanted, by simonf on Oct 21, 2009 20:10:09 GMT 1, although in my own defence... I don't really "make a big investment in Banksy prints" as you say you do.
.... I just buy the things i like.... and tend to take people at face value - which would probably explain my naivete! and also why I'm not a professional poker player

Banksy NOLA wanted, by lobster on Oct 21, 2009 20:23:59 GMT 1, hmmm (!!!) - apologies if I my post sounded condescending - it really wasn`t meant to be - I was just trying to help and I didn`t want you getting "bolted up" on a print for a crazy price - that was all. When I started buying these prints I was VERY fortunate that a lot of members of this forum helped point me in the right direction but unfortunately their were others who offered me prints at crazy prices to try and take advantage.
Check auction results - allow for the buyers / sellers fees and that is a great indication of what these prints are worth at a certain time.
Regarding "professional poker players" - it is normally a euphemism for unemployed - in fact i will tell you a joke - what do you say to a "professional" poker player ? Keep the change as you pay for the pizza he has just delivered you !!!
