I've got a few paintings I've been doing, acrylic on paper. The way I work, i tend to build up layers of thin washes, so areas of dark tend to have more paint on them and I'm finding in certain lights, these areas reflect more.
It doesn't actually matter when they get framed and are behind glass, but it bugs the hell out of me when they are unframed and when I'm trying to get shots done of them!
Was wondering if spraying a thin (matt?) varnish would even things out? Or whether it's just "one of those things".

I use them to even out the tones of black and to make different paints/colors and mediums look uniform in the end. Spray mattes work and can be applied very thin. "paint on" matte varnish give a more uniform look but are very permanent. Be easy with them on paper and test it with your washes to makes sure that the varnish you apply doesn't change the color, or effect the paint/process you use. Try Soluvar Spray
