Banksy - £10k to spend, by spartan on Nov 19, 2009 1:28:34 GMT 1, 10k is an awkward area to be purchasing Banksy in, IMO. I would recommend sitting on the cash, stacking up some more, and going for a small canvas work. I think recommendations of prints are a poor route to take. If you don't want to spend more, I think you might be better off looking at a different, established artist whose pricing is a better fit for your budget.
x2
This is very good advice. i wouldn't spend the £10k on prints.
Either pick up a nice recent signed Banksy print (a few to chose from for under £3000), and use the rest of the money on original pieces, or save up more for a Banksy original.
My personal opinion is that the nose dive in the market is far from over, and things will be going for substantially less in 2010.
Just my £0.02

i would rather buy an older signed Banksy print than any of the recent prints.

Banksy - £10k to spend, by Simococo on Nov 19, 2009 5:24:17 GMT 1, Would £10K get you one now days? I think so based on some input I got a while ago
imo if you can pick up a CWSB for 7/8k then you can pick up a RR for 10k

Banksy - £10k to spend, by Simococo on Nov 19, 2009 5:27:07 GMT 1, Really? Nothing wrong with Matt, but if I had and I wish I had, I would go for an old signed Mr B print, ie RC, HAND, WSM, or BMEE not only do I prefer but IMO would be a safer bet, however buy what you like, you need to live with it! Out of interest why do people want to buy a matt small for 10k when you'd get a personal commission for much less?Yes, you try getting one ;D. You could get a great Small OG or if you wanted to save the cash you could get a smaller OG or spend the change on a Nola,S&S and insurance Saying that you wanted a Banksy ;D So would check the auction houses, you might get an canvas Edition on the cheap in 2010
if anyone is thinking of selling an editioned canvas for around 10k I know a lot of people that would bite your hand off

Banksy - £10k to spend, by Urban Cowboy on Nov 19, 2009 10:03:43 GMT 1, Thanks for all the replies and even a bit of handbags thrown in for free.
I do own a lot of original work, some of it by some artists mentioned on this thread. I just particularly wanted a Banksy and thats why I asked.
I havent been offered anything yet at at a price I would be interested in, will keep eyes open on the bay and on my inbox here.
Happy to wait this one out and get something I really want at a price I am happy with.

Banksy - £10k to spend, by Urban Cowboy on Nov 20, 2009 0:03:07 GMT 1, Recession what recession?
Very few sellers have contacted me, thought cash was king. Maybe it will be after Christmas.
Ebay watching it is then as no intention of paying gallery prices.
Might have to pay more or add something I have to the deal. Would that get me any more pms?

I agree. Don't rush in. It might take 12 months or more to find the right banksy for you.
For me out of all the possessions I own the item that gives me the most pleasure is my CWSB... it's only a print but now I have it on the wall I prefer it to any original artwork I have.
