New Hirst self portrait, by jimbob68 on Jul 14, 2009 18:31:43 GMT 1, Personally Im not impressed with this . and the story about the melting Quinn head work is i heard not true. There was a rumour that the blood head was in mr and mrs saatchis freezer at home for some reason and a building contarctor supposedly turned off the freezer to move it out the way , but I might be wrong. somebody will tell me if I am!!!

New Hirst self portrait, by afroken on Jul 14, 2009 19:02:18 GMT 1, I dont think it was in their freezer. The piece itself was a freezer. Anyway I read an interview with Saatchi where he said the story wasn't true and he'd sold the piece to some American collector.

Aye the truth is the head even has a back up power supply so no real risk of a spillage. You have to wonder about the long term longevity of something like this though.... maybe that's where transience comes in to play.
Either way far more interesting than a commodified Hirst sick note X-ray thing

Quinn has also got a piece in the Science museum 'SUNFLOWERS' last time i went to see this it was in a terrible state . which says something about cryogenics Anything perishable no matter how well preserved cannot fail to decay

Hate to be pedantic, but i think you will find they 'fell' on it whilst cleaning out the garage

That reminds me of a joke.
A man walks into a chemist and asks for some deodorant...
Shop assistants: Ball or Aerosol?
Man: Neither, I'd like it for my armpits.

New Hirst self portrait, by schlomo on Jul 16, 2009 16:58:39 GMT 1, A doctor friend on mine tells a story of when he was an intern, some chap came in with a glass dildo wedged right up himself (apologies any minors reading this). It was so stuck, and so fragile being glass that they couldnt clamp it, so they had to basically hold him open and get a hand up there to grab hold of it and pull it out. The guy then asked if he could have it back, so my mate had to walk up the corridor with it and wash it, then return it to him.....
also have you heard the one about the guy who fell on his ketchup bottle and got it stuck up there, apparently whilst trying to climb through a window? the doctor at the time said the story would have been more believable if the ketchup bottle didnt have a condom on the end of it...... true apparently...... although cant remember who told me that one (some guy in the pub, who knew some guy who had been told it in another pub by some guy).....
