Authentication Question...., by dodge on Jan 3, 2010 10:17:40 GMT 1, Morning all,
If someone has bought a print from a forum member and the prints are registered in the original owner's name, is this good? They also have a copy of the original receipt but no Pest control certificate. I would like to buy the print but in the wake of being stung in the recent 'fake Banksy' ebay scam, I am a bit dubious of buying any Banksy at the moment.
Advice much appreciated.

Sounds legit but to be 100% you should ask for a PC Cert and then check the numbers/name match up. I had the same situation and Dora told me to get PC cert from the owner then get confirmation of all the details.

Authentication Question...., by dodge on Jan 3, 2010 10:53:03 GMT 1, Cheers Dave. The current owner has stated that the prospective owner will have to pay for any pest control authentication but they are willing to have the print sent away for authentication. Do you know how much pest control authentication costs?

Authentication Question...., by curiousgeorge on Jan 3, 2010 14:21:19 GMT 1, JMO...I think the onus should always lay with the seller to have all the paperwork to hand (PC COA)
Dodge not sure if the same guy scammed you, but it's only a few months before a group of scammers day in court

agreed. if they want to make top dollar, surely it's in their interest to get the paperwork in order?

They don't have to send the print away for authentication - just provide pictures and other details which can be downloaded to the form on the Pest Contol site.

Totally, I've walked away from deals as i was told 'i want the COA, then i should pay for it' What irks me most is the majority of the time the seller will be making a packet and still wont spend on the COA, skinflints make me run a mile
Dodge selling our RS4 this week, can't find the log book but will send it on if and when i find it

Just wondering, do you/anyone else think a seller should have to provide a PC COA if they are the original purchaser of a pre pest control print from POW? (so the print is therefore registered in their name and the receipt has their name and address on it) Seems a little hard on an original buyer who has all the transaction paperwork to have to cough up another £50 if they ever want to sell their print to me.

Even more so I'm afraid, given they paid peanuts and are going to get a massive return. In some cases the COA could cost more than original price
Moving away from money, the system set up serves a purpose and I'm sure over time more and more fakes will be found because of this system
