As someone who has visited a lot of collectors homes and had many visit mine this is quite worrying. Some of the greatest experiences I've ever had collecting art has been spending an afternoon with someone who shares the same passion as myself and appreciating their pride and joy.
I guess if somebody is meeting up with someone for the very first time, especially if they are unknown to the community, it is worth asking for a passport scan or driving license / recent proof of address before you meet. This proves you can never be too careful.
Really sorry you experienced this and I do hope it gets resolved soon.
Please name and shame the member you met with too, although perhaps the police advised not to?

I hate the fact that we live in a society where we can't trust everyone and I hope they catch the rat bastards that took your art. I know hind sight is 20/20 but to all members here on the forum, alarms, video surveillance, and dogs are all good things to have if you are going to have nice art at your residence. Take a moment and just pass on one purchase of a nice piece and invest in some security. Although insurance may or may not cover your loss, the fact is some pieces are very hard to replace and it's all just a depressing pain in the ass. Some security measures again, may or may not prevent the loss of your belongings but there is a higher probability that it will deter thieves and if not, at least you will have a better chance of catching them (hopefully your video will do just that). Even if you don't have expensive things a small investment in some security can help the feeling of being violated. I wish you the best of luck and hope your art is found and returned to you undamaged.

Almost as if it was someone with no art knowledge whatsoever or a deliberate vindictive act just to cause the the owner grief.

They ignored other much more expensive Banksy prints hanging at the time, cash i-pads, this was a very focused break in. I might see If I can upload it.
The COA I still have by the way. But that doesn't mean the person had no knowledge of the market,
maybe a buyer waiting or my other theory...
Which is the person had the same print, changed the number on mine to match there COA, sold
on, everything would look normal and check out, only there's two prints with the same number,
apply for a new second PC.
I guess the way of checking my theory, have PC ever issued two COA's for the same S&S?
On a positive note Brownhills insurance were fantastic, I can't recommend them enough,
and I talk from first hand experience of having to claim.
