sickboy and mr jago, by Hugs on Dec 27, 2007 0:33:23 GMT 1, Along with his very good friend (the hugely talented) Will Barras,Mr Jago has done a lot of work with addict over the years, including snowboards, skatedecks, clothing and of course the camobot. Have seen some decks up close and they're the mutts dangly bits, don't own 1 but wish I did, lucky enough to have a couple of canvas and my lad has a camobot that was hand painted and given to him by Mr Jago. A top fella who's well overdue huge success (as is Sickboy)

sickboy and mr jago, by gerry on Dec 27, 2007 10:48:55 GMT 1, Jago's problem is that sometimes the awesomeness of his work doesn't come across that well in a photo on the web. Few times i've thought 'that looks realy good' and then thought 'that looks properly awesome' when i've seen it in the flesh. His silks are a case in point, but the current print on let them hang is similar too, it totally rocks when you see it in real life. Especially a hand doodled a/p of it...

I was amazed at the Mr Jago canvases at the 12 days of xmas show no photo can do them justice the texture, and soft colours of his silk canvases are brilliant

Ric who runs Scrawl Collective is a great guy to deal with.
Picked up this SuckUK lamp customised by bo130, microbo and nano4814 from there in the summer.

sickboy and mr jago, by Hugs on Dec 28, 2007 1:01:54 GMT 1, I think Mr Jago was one of the founders of the scrawl collective wasn't he ? Agree with everyones comments about his work, really has to be seen up close. I was lucky enough to watch him paint both on the street and a canvas ( that I later bought) and he makes it look so easy. A well kept Bristol secret ( or was !!) along with a few other outstanding artists ( thinking RichT,China Mike,Motorboy,Paris to name a few) who I think after mass exposure from the 12 days show and talk on these boards will at last get some recognistion for the hard years allready done....I predict a big year for a lot of the Bristol posse...please!!

sickboy and mr jago, by gerry on Dec 28, 2007 2:36:37 GMT 1, I'll happily second that! It amazes me that everyone loves Banksy so much but don't think to look to the other people from the same scene as him in Bristol. Maybe that's good for us in the know, but really, Bristol artists really deserve a lot more recognition than they seem to get...

sickboy and mr jago, by Hugs on Dec 28, 2007 6:33:41 GMT 1, I recently wrote a piece about the Bristol scene and commented about the artists living and working from my old home City. It's funny how many of the artists are not actually Bristolian,in fact i'm struggling to think of many at all! Bristol has had a long history with graffiti, right back to 1985 when a very young Nick Walker & co ( 3d,Miles Johnson of the wild bunch, Fade, Jaffa ) held Bristol's 1st graff show at the arnolfini...from the early days to the present day,the City of Bristol is right up there with huge talents living and working there still.

Yeah, Thats one of the thing I want to try and do this year, is give those Bristol artists the opportunity to join in more with things on the forums. As you say, they deserve much more recognition for their work, but it seems some are still a bit shy when it comes to stepping into the limelight
