Who is Mr. Brainwash?, by urbanangel on Jun 25, 2008 15:34:47 GMT 1, Mr Brainwash is a guy that was making documentary of street art, in particular following Banksy and Obey, as i understand it.
Whilst making the documentary, Mr Brainwash started painting himself.
I understand that he is supported heavily by Banksy and Obey. He was invited to paint at CANS and he did the Madonna kissing Britney image (like a Barcode).
The documentary run into difficulties and a 'twist' took place, which i can't discuss, as i don't know whether it's confidential or not.
I understand that he has received massive interest in the US and i think he's someone that you will hear a lot more about.

fair enough but if you didnt know the bloke and looked at his site for the first time you may think the same thing. Although im not digging most of the work, the show looked ace though

BTW from what I was told MR Brainwash might not have even picked up a brush to do any of his own work, also the oil paintings are just printed out Giclees with varnish over them to make them look like oil paintings.

I think it's a bit bold to say these artists have not been influenced by the work of Warhol at least -- Banksy, I can un derstand as his work is comparitively newer, but Warhol changed the contemporary art scene so dramatically that it is impossible to have not been influenced by him in some way!!! That goes for anyone producing art in today's world!

a bunch of artists who are crazy about handmade objects... i would say their work is not directly influenced by Warhol, but they, like everyone else, knows who he is and what he's about.
