Won't be an interesting one as its about money again.
Lets not bother doing our own groundwork and just buy what people tell us to.

Eelus, D*Face or Walker, by alsbabar on Jul 27, 2008 14:36:44 GMT 1, is this forum getting so desperate that topics like this have to be hatched up to create debate, regurcitate the same old s**te about the who is the best out of, who will make you the most money - talk about art for f**ks sake
Silky i think its time to start trimming the number of threads are created - a lot of them are total bollocks and are a waste of time and pushes the interesting stuff further down and out of sight!!
I nominate that this thread is the first to be deleted

i think eelus is well under rated - he's not been going at this for that long and some of his street and non publicized works really rock
the walker prices at the last show were just staggering
actually you're right alsbabar this is shit... come on talk about the art who gives a fuck about this shit... are you a closet flipper - i would say yes defo

Eelus, D*Face or Walker, by pfffffffffft on Jul 27, 2008 15:11:32 GMT 1, Personally I love D*faces stuff, some of his images are iconic, easily recognizable, and do evoke a response. That said I love eelus' work as well. Personally I dont care for nick walker. He has a couple of really great images then personally I find the rest rather boring. I like moona, knickers, and a couple others but I cant speak much for the rest.

Eelus, D*Face or Walker, by Heavyconsumer on Jul 27, 2008 18:56:44 GMT 1, Never been a fan of DFace's work, although there have been one or two images I've thought were interesting takes, such as CliChe and a few of the one-offs. While I think the green tarts and a few other prints look good, I don't think he can be credited too highly for such unoriginal work and while he may be a superb design mind, I respect him for how I see him: I think he's a brilliant creator of brand and then working it to the max (this is respectful, not insulting, so D-fans, please don't read between any lines, there's no shame in being good at something or making money from it imo and that was not a dig, but I just don't see him as a great artist).
I was not a fan of Eelus' work, but he's really got me interested with his apparent change of gear and I respect him a great deal for keeping his print prices well within the realm of affordability when he could easily be charging at least 50% more imo. If Raivenhaired gets released as a multiple, I will be all over it, as I think its a classic image.
Walker imo was one of the unsung heros before Bonhams early this year. I was still fairly new to the scene and in contact with his administrator/helper/wife/whoever the lady is, regarding buying a few pieces and payment methods, but wasn't quick enough on the trigger and now can't afford the more desirable stuff, DOH! I rate him because I feel he has a very distinct style/brand and has put a few excellent images out there, although I'm not a lover of the majority of them. However the TMA series has been special and one of the hilights of the genre recently imo.
On a general note, I think that my choice of the 3 for aesthetically pleasing is NW, but a single favourite image (most like to have) is a very close toss between his TMA on aluminium (nice one Pud!) and Raivenhaired by Eelus. I certainly don't feel that at this stage any of the 3 is destined for "mainstream greatness" in the long-term though, compared with Banksy, Neate or Micallef and as for bankability NO IDEA and I think the question intrudes a bit on appreciation of the art for it's own sake. But perhaps that's because I'm not one of the members with a hugely valuable collection! ;D
EDIT:- sorry for my much too long and boring post.

They all have great skills and the ability to move near Banksy's current position ;D But I think the things they will need to take it to the next stage are connections to the right people and places, making the right moves at the right times, and a big chunk of luck! ;D

IMO, this is by far his best print. There were 1 or 2 left at O'Contemporary when I called them, but at ยฃ600 I couldn't bring myself to do it. I also liked some of the CliChe collages and reworkings at the BRP show (not that I went but I saw the images online).

But I don't really like any of these three guys, Eelus looks like he might be getting better from his recent work.

But, I've since become and undying fan of D*'s stuff!
However, I like a number of artists work(not a fan of Kaws, though). I just wish it wasn't so goddam expensive for OG's!!!
I just spent $10K on a D* original from his recent FIFTY24SF show. It's awesome... but sh1t, this art collecting is gonna clean me out! I'll be in the soup kitchen lines by xmas time.

1) Nick Walker (although as previously mentioned Eelus appears to have really upped his game). 2) Nick Walker - been there from the start - innovator not imitator. 3) No comment 4) If by greatness you mean a place in Art History along with Hirst, Warhol and Van Gogh, then none of them. I would say that out of the entire street art scene/movement (whatever you want to call it) only Banksy has a real chance of still being talked about in 50 years time.

neates done as much work on the streets as most of these recently. you cant really call walker (recently) a prolific street painter.
