I thought the Parlas would of sold around cost on the secondary market. They did take a while to sell out.

Parla for Banksy, by spirit on Jan 5, 2010 14:39:42 GMT 1, I'm just saying I would swap as I would MUCH prefer to have WTL on the wall than colour trolleys. Personally think CT mings... Banksy's worst print IMO (love the B&W T though) and WTL may be Parla's best (although I prefer St Giles). CT is currently for sale on the forum for ยฃ1200.
My view on the Parla's is that were bought principally by collectors to hang on the wall. I think WTL sold out within a week or so and considering flippers were not in it to a large extent and the high cost price, I think that's pretty quick! I haven't seen any come on to the secondary as yet (although I haven't really looked hard) and I personally doubt we will see many. Slammer has made it known for quite a while that he would like a WTL at cost - no takers so far ... So it would therefore be reasonable to presume that more than cost would be required in order to get someone to part with theirs no?
How much more than cost I have no idea... ยฃ100? ยฃ200? ยฃ500? Comes down to the age old scenario of how much seller is willing to let it go for and how much buyer is willing to pay.
I would be willing to make a small wager that in the long run (years) WTL will have a higher market value than CT based on the reason above (possibly Banksy's worst Vs possibly Parla's best) and the fact that there are thousands of Banksy prints VS only 300 Parla's. (ignoring those small alphabet prints which are not in the same league)
Anyway, thought it was an interesting swap for the OP to put out there.

Although they were only available to visitors to Elms so it would take a while... Besides the original Neates were around for longer than that, and look at their value now (or at the height of his print market before the print show that flooded the marker a la Micallef).

You could've bought one of these over the phone from Elms in the days after the release, you didn't have to pitch up.
Can't agree with Ronhill that they were too expensive on release - surely they were priced bang on the market at that time hence the orderly queue and the relatively long time that they took to sell out.
Sure they were expensive but look how well they've been received - well done Elms, that's what I say.

Parla for Banksy, by PDC on Jan 5, 2010 21:26:39 GMT 1, I think considering Parla never puts out prints and it is undetermined if he will do another release in the future, this is a reasonable trade. I realize that on this board St. Giles is the favorite but outside this board and to a broader audience, I believe WTL will be regarded as the stronger and more desirable print of the 3 released IMO. I personally think it is the strongest he has made and the most impactful. I'm also willing to trade for another signed Banksy and add cash if anyone is interested and does not own a CT.

Parla for Banksy, by Guest on Jan 5, 2010 21:31:32 GMT 1, dissagree, look at the neate prints from elms, market value at the time, and flipped for a small increase "profit", and now selling at less than half cost price. I hope these have gone to good homes, but i doubt it very much. This could be the first of many offered at above cost that dont sell, and so the ball starts rolling and we see a rush of "for sale" threads.... i hope not, but thats my guess.

Parla for Banksy, by G-Man on Jan 5, 2010 21:33:26 GMT 1, I have both a CT and a WTL I think that they are not comparable, if I had to let one go it would be my CT as I as someone else said prefer my B&W
I think that people will be kicking themselves about not dipping in for this Parla release, I for one was chuffed to bits as could never afford an original Parla and his previous prints didnt do it for me
On reflection I think that CT for a WTL is a fair trade

Parla for Banksy, by Deleted on Jan 5, 2010 21:53:15 GMT 1, Don't think the Neate prints are a fair comparable RH, they were released at what was, without doubt, the very top of the market.
Let's be honest, anyone paying ยฃ10K for WSP/RSP at any time needs their head tested, I went to 'In selected stores only' and also 'PPP' and the atmosphere couldn't have been more different, the latter like sharks smelling the blood.
Personally, I preferred the WTL but it wouldn't have fitted in my house (yeah I know...). In the queue, on that Saturday, there was a few people commenting that they were buying in the full knowledge that they might be paying over the odds and there was little upside but wanted the print...
If you owned a WTL and listed it would you get ยฃ1250? Probably not.......

Parla for Banksy, by monkeyart on Jan 5, 2010 22:06:18 GMT 1, I was in the queue on saturday and it never crossed my mind I might be paying over the odds, I knew the price and what print I wanted before I queued, I did change my mind once seeing them in the flesh. But surely if your queuing for a print and worried you might be paying over the odds. Your only really worrying about the investment and not the art?
This is a fair deal if both parties are happy, for me not sure as if I owned a CT I brought it because I liked it and if I like the Parla I would have queued or phoned Elms after to get one... so on reflection not sure this deal will be done :-)

Parla for Banksy, by craigf on Jan 5, 2010 22:17:11 GMT 1, Funny how some people think that a print is only successful if it sells out in seconds. I queued for just one print on the Saturday, but was so impressed I ended up buying two and could have easily gone for the set if I didn't have my half sensible head on. Any trade is down to the individuals concerned if its fair or not. Horses for courses when it comes to art, the Parla and Banksy are very different, time will tell how these are thought of in the future. If Parla releases more prints in the next 12 months I believe it will be to the detriment of this first release purely from a numbers perspective, but I don't think many of the buyers were there to make a quick buck, the outlay was quite considerable from the outset and there was no guaranteed return other than an improved look to your wall when you framed them up and enjoyed them ;D

This was my point, in a roundabout kind of way, that there were people, in that queue who wanted the art and weren't particularly worried about the 'investment'. Perhaps my original post was misconstrude?
It crossed my mind that I might be paying more than what I might be able to purchase for in 3 or 4 or 12 months time but that didn't bother me as I wanted the work.

Parla for Banksy, by monkeyart on Jan 5, 2010 22:29:35 GMT 1, I agree 100% craig, man I was also tempted by the WTL but as you mentioned my sensible head took over, love my St Giles but still wonder if it was the right decision to pass on another!! Hopefully these will slump on the secondary market as would love to get hands on WTL :-)
Anyway good luck with the swap fella!

Parla for Banksy, by craigf on Jan 5, 2010 22:35:02 GMT 1, It wasn't your post rather than the thread I was looking to comment on. I think the majority of people bought for exactly the right reasons, did we over pay? who cares if its for the wall and we enjoy it. I have some pieces of art that are now worth less than half what I paid for them and that's before I add the framing cost. Do I like them less for it? Nope, would be good if they were worth more if I had to sell them, but that's happily not currently a consideration ;D
Putting it in context I like cars and am considering changing my current car so have been looking what to replace it with. I've had it just over 3 years and it's lost ยฃ20k, that's a shed load of money, but I've driven 50k miles in that time and enjoyed every minute behind the wheel. I am however looking to see if I can pick something this time that holds its value a bit better

Parla for Banksy, by PDC on Jan 19, 2010 2:03:31 GMT 1, I've had a Banksy trade offer and a cash offer. The trade offer backed out because of the print size and I never heard back from the cash offer.
I am also open to cash offers if anyone is interested.
