Learn Picture Framing, by christoffero on Aug 6, 2008 13:52:06 GMT 1, Just thought I'd let you know about a day of picture framing I had last week near Warwick.
A chap on ebay was listing a days worth of learning to do picture framing. He has 30 years experience and will have you round his house for a day for £75.
Alternatively, he will let you bring your prints and materials and will frame up for you for the day while you watch him.
You can ask for whatever spec you like and he will even take you to the warehouse to pick up the stuff.
I really enjoyed it and got about 20 frames done with mounts. Including his days charge I spent about £300 including materials so work it out compared to framing costs at the galleries.
If you don't trust yourself to frame up your valuable stuff then fine but this is an ideal way to learn the basics from a real nice bloke who knows his stuff and you can get a few bits done at the same time to pay for the day.
He has a listing up at the moment on 320274161456 and his username is miles3333. You could email him on milesdavies@hotmail.co.uk
Unfortunately my day was cut short (excuse the pun) when I tried to chop the end of my finger off (my fault not his).
On top of all that his lovely Chinese girlfriend threw lunch in although that might not be part of the service. She also happens to work at the hospital and bandaged me up like a Christmas present.
All Good!!
Well worth contacting him if you've always fancied a go or just want to see how it's done like I did.

Learn Picture Framing, by christoffero on Aug 6, 2008 15:16:44 GMT 1, Sorry, I've got no idea how to work the picture thing on this. Suffice to say though that I have paid upwards of £200 for individual framing jobs as a lot of you will have done and am more than happy with the work done on my day in the workshop. Miles knows all about conservation and museum framing if you need it or can do you a stack of synthetic frames for things which might not matter too much. All in all for £75 this is a really good opportunity. I'm not on commission and really considered keeping this to myself but would like to think I could do at least one person a favour by making them aware of the offer.
