I'm sure most people have already done this exhibition by now, but as with Parla, JR is somebody else who is clearly completely obsessed with his work. As a hobbyist photographer myself looking at my body of work I seem to subconsciously steer away from portraiture, with the exception of candids. Maybe I'm afraid to make that connection with people, but JR clearly isn't and coupled with the scale of the work it's very exciting.

JR pics @ (and around) Laz, by edcase on Oct 12, 2008 11:44:07 GMT 1, Are you being serious, Romany?
This is a community forum not a library. When were you made chief librarian / forum photographer in residence?
I am on here most days, and I hadn't A) been to the show or B) seen all of the pics and I couldn't see any threads about it on the first few pages of the forum, so it's fair to assume some other people won't have seen one of the other threads?!
Given it's had over 60 views overnight, clearly that is the case.
Sorry for sharing.

JR pics @ (and around) Laz, by edcase on Oct 12, 2008 11:47:39 GMT 1, Silky - perhaps it might be a nice idea to create a new section purely for photographs from shows? create a new thread for each individual show, and people can link their gallerys into those threads. Pics only, general discussion kept for the main forum. Might make a nice accessible resource over time, rather than having to search through multiple pages of individual threads to find pics.
Just a thought.

Good idea Edcase, library of works/ shows etc. like Seth has for his past shows.

JR pics @ (and around) Laz, by Prescription Art on Oct 13, 2008 12:13:12 GMT 1, It's across the two galleries. The one on Charing X Rd is showing a video about the work in the Favelas... the one in Greek Street has the exhibition.

JR pics @ (and around) Laz, by Prescription Art on Oct 13, 2008 12:47:29 GMT 1, For anyone interested in his first two books (Carnet de Rue & 28mm), they're available from FNAC.
It's not easy to order though unless you can recall at least a smattering of school French. I think I may have just ordered the Emmanuelle box set by mistake.

Didn't buy it myself. Its a nice, clear hi res print (saw it hanging in the Greek St office) but I would have preferred a detail rather than the long shot. I've got the centre spread from the Guardian (Aug 20th) sitting next to me as we speak and it'll do me. I have nothing but praise for JR but I feel he choses the wrong images for prints (just my opinion of course). His books are the best way to enjoy his work if you can't see them for real because he's not about the one shot. A DVD release would also be a must have from this show.

JR pics @ (and around) Laz, by bert on Oct 13, 2008 16:08:49 GMT 1, Cheers for that info MikeeP - I really love the long shot and think it would look pretty nice framed up as a present for my Dad (missed the Guardian unfortunately). Good to hear it is a good hi res print, might plump for it come pay day.

JR pics @ (and around) Laz, by ricosg11 on Oct 13, 2008 17:11:32 GMT 1, like i have said elsewhere, the content, scale, placement, and execution of JR's work is second to none. There is and energy to his work that is so refreshing.
