Indeed he could. I'd give him the crown, especially as he has limitless financial resources. Though I'd say I'm easily in the top 5. I haven't shown my KAWS originals online in years. In that time, the 'originals' collection has grown a great deal. Perhaps this year, or next, I'll document everything and unveil the entire holding in one shot. I've gotten many requests, including galleries, who would like to present it, but I have decided that I will keep it very personal and keep it 'home'. It's a matter of a short time before I move to a larger space. A good portion of the collection is in a proper storage facility, similar to Constantine.
On another tip, the two major vintage KAWS joints (the ad disruption & skull) in the Carmichael show in LA are from my collection. I do believe it's the first opportunity that such works have been available in such a format. If anyone is interested, jump on it because they are true pieces of history...
Also, to clear up another point...Kozik only has 'toys'. He's a friend. He did a custom from me that some know about - the 500 Years Later Companion: blog.theartcollectors.com/2008/07/25/san-diegokozik-500yl-companion/
Finally, it's quite appropriate that the Toy Giants photo project is mentioned. I helped Selim with some key KAWS pieces and am thanked in the credits of the book. He's another high-level collector with a 'toy' focus who remains avid today.
