Banksy Donuts Print, by bullet on Jul 27, 2009 0:06:23 GMT 1, he def outsources his stuff. No way he painted that. not in a million years.
i have been through this before but for some reason people refuse to understand how things like this work. its absolutely normal for a 'creative' to have the idea then get someone else to realise it. Yes, the stencil stuff is all banksy, no arguments. But other stuff...not so sure. He has many hands.

Banksy Donuts Print, by otomi on Jul 27, 2009 0:12:56 GMT 1, Don't think any confirmation emails have been sent out. The idea that only those on the mailing list can enter would be great and I hope for our own chances it is.
why would they put the reg. link on the website and not in the email if it was so - they are still a business and try to get as many people on their site as possible

Can you remember that thread on this board just after the election when there was the post-Bush euphoria and all and sundry were convinced that Obama was going to: a) Stop the war b) Save the world from environmental carnage c) Convert the USA to some kind of left-leaning social democracy I think bongo made a comment about Obama's election being just a continuation of the same system and received some fairly direct challenges; then I and others waded in to support bongo's assertion. Obama is just another doughnut in a long line of doughnuts. He's not the messiah - he's a very naughty boy; and it's already being played out. Ah yes, I was wondering when Banksy would join in the fray and do an Obama print like every other street artist in the world. About time.

Banksy Donuts Print, by Wearology on Jul 27, 2009 2:54:33 GMT 1, I saw the print and automatically thought about police protecting their favorite (stereotypical) thing donuts. Is the forum trying to insinuate that this is actually an image of a presidential motorcade and by P.O.W asking us to select chocolate or pink is like the American people being asked to chose Obama (chocolate) or McCain (pink) absolutely brilliant.

Banksy Donuts Print, by snausages on Jul 27, 2009 3:44:59 GMT 1, I miss the sarcastic quips on the POW homepage describing the prints that help glean true insight into its meaning. For now I think we'll have to agree those who picked strawberry are closet conservatives and those that picked chocolate did so to make themselves feel more liberal and diverse in the most minor of ways.
I wouldn't mind having this print, but not my favorite and 600 donut prints is a whole lot in this market. I hate lotteries, but hopefully it opens up the collecting market to a wider audience, the non computer obsessive who don't check POW constantly can have a chance and perhaps average middle englanders will get a taste for collecting art/banksy....
But I was really hoping that one of the NY rats would make an appearance on paper...

Banksy Donuts Print, by asap on Jul 27, 2009 5:06:32 GMT 1, imho i see the image in a broader context with reference to the role of the police in todays society. This role as determined by the state chooses not 'to protect and serve' the interests of the people but rather the interests, objects and property belonging to the state or corporations. The donut represents those interests and is in essence the 'product' or sugar coated facade portrayed to the taxpaying public...or i could be reading to much into this...

It's all subjective to the viewer but I must tip my hat to you as I'll look at that composition differently after reading your thoughts.

Join the club! I came in this morning and all I've heard about is people - who had no interest at all in Banksy a year or so ago, (in fact hadn't heard of him until I put some prints up) and still don't have any interest now apart from the value, saying how they registered at home on Friday night after they'd got their emails and how much they 'll make if they get one. Will be fuming if someone gets one and flips it. Wonder if I'd get taken to a tribunal for sacking them for that

Banksy Donuts Print, by sand on Jul 27, 2009 9:03:55 GMT 1, Yep....also had lots of colleagues [who have no real interest in Banksy unless it's monetary] coming up to me to ask how much money they can make if they win one in the lottery.
Personally I prefer the days when if you wanted a Banksy print you would have to work for it by f5ing hour after hour [ I appreciate this isn't so fair for those who don't work in a office]...but it's now becoming nigh impossible to get a banksy print at source...especially with the introduction of this lottery. Perhaps it's a time he decided to raise the price so that only people who want to hang the print in their homes would buy at a market value price. It would mean that Banksy could raise more cash to support his chosen charities and eliminate flipping...guess the only bad aspect is that true fans with smaller budgets would no longer be able to afford a signed banksy...
Guess you just can't win!
Really hoping some forum members with an actual interest in keeping the print get lucky...

How many entries do you think there will be - I guess it's good the draw isn't open long enough for word to spread too far.
100,000+ ??

Banksy Donuts Print, by rowan on Jul 27, 2009 9:32:33 GMT 1, Reading through the forum, it seems that there is a pretty big split between the people who like/dislike the upcoming print!..
Im sure that even though your not 100% on the print, you've still put your email address into the draw..
So are there people hoping to get a print, just for the purpose of swapping it for another Banksy print with out having to pay the mark up ebay/forum prices for buying it new??
There are going to be people on here with a Nola or S&S etc who love this new print even more and are wanting to swap, and on the other hand there are peep's who'll get a G&C but would rather have a different print!!..
Saying that I'd be over the moon to get one of these prints as it'd be my first Banksy..

Banksy Donuts Print, by G-Man on Jul 27, 2009 9:33:43 GMT 1, I really hope that a load of people here on the forum, including myself obviously!, manage to get lucky with this release
i have always been in favour of a lottery after missing out on Nola, but now am re-thinking, after hearing so many people who have only fleetingly heard of Banksy are all entering for this one in the hope of making money.
I suppose that if they all win then the Ebay prices will be suppressed when they all try and sell quickly to recoup their ยฃ500's
In a funny way I miss the sweating and F5ing
PLEEEEEEEEEASE let me win one this time third time lucky after lucking out on Nola and VLH

ever so slightly more insightful in nature than the straight down the middle boring pastiches we've seen so far from across the water eh?
great post Guy and you've hit the nail on the head as far as I'm concerned as to why my feeling on this print went from 'meh' to 'classic banksy'!
you're probably old enough (as i) to remember the feeling that Maggie being a woman (forgetting she was a tory) was going to bring 'hope' to British politics back in the 70's - how wrong we were!
