Banksy Donuts Print, by ABC on Jul 30, 2009 21:24:29 GMT 1, Why did so many people register for this? 80% of this forum (I'd say) was for monetary interest, harsh but true.
You only have to look at the numbers that lurk just to gain that little bit of info that could give them a return. After every release the same thread appears, get over it, people that have been successful will always get slated whatever they do.
Being a Banksy collector for a few years now, I've turned down loads of Art because the images were not my cuppa, but those were the days when you had time to decide if you wanted it on you wall or not and money did not factor. Those days are over, you have to buy now then decide after with Mr B, otherwise you lose out.
Yes I'm gutted I didn't one but then again I can reflect on the others prints that I did.

He had plenty of time to decide if he or his mum wanted it on there wall? Buying a Banksy print via F5 and doing this would not bother me to much, as he had put the hours in, and like you said he might not have had time to decide if he wants the image on his wall or not. but i think this is different, and out of order. but i accept other point that it's a win win for someone who wants the image and has a S&S to swap, and it's the game we are all in i guess

Why Harsh? I've been in 2 minds as to take the piss or engage in an adult conversation, so I think Ill do both.
Having bought / photographed Banksy since 2003 I'm astounded, amazed and pleased that he's reached the heights he has from an artistic, creative and financial view. I love what the man has done on the street. Flip side Banksy = $ and this seen nowhere worse than this forum. How many times you entered, do you like? what is next? Fuck me I'd rather drink the sweat off my own balls than get invovled in some of he insular conversations that get going on on here. Self proclaimed experts who've come to notice what's going on around them in the last 2/3 years (who really know f*ck all). If you have any love for Banksy and street art get out and take a look. Stop talking via a keyboard with people you don't know and paint on the street. Grow some balls and forget about making a few quid

Now this would be nice for sure and gets my vote, smaller prints are what I need..

Banksy Donuts Print, by snausages on Jul 30, 2009 21:59:16 GMT 1, I find it disheartening that a lot of the discussion about 'Glazed and Confused' has been about the fairness or unfairness of lottery system; POW rejecting people who've broken the rules by submitting more than two email addresses (as if graffiti obeys any set of rules); or criticising those who 'flip' their prints. What I think is missing from any debate is the merit of the actual piece of work Banksy has chosen to release, or its meaning i.e. For starters: Why strawberry? Why chocolate? One of the reasons Banksy's work is interesting is the humour and the message behind it. In this case why is a giant donut being given a police escort? And what does this say to you? Better than OBey prints, 100 pg threads of nothing but people bitching about paypal.
What's this print mean? Strawberry = McCain, Chocolate = Obama! If you want to think of our (american) president as a donut hole. Or it's simply a funny interpretation of how the "law" is more concerned for their own selfish inane interests than for the public good.
Good or bad? It doesn't have the same impact to me as some of his more classic prints, but it's an important new piece in his first major museum show and works perfectly with all the other pieces included such as the policeman on the toy horse, or whatever that was.
It's like one song from a great album, maybe not the greatest song on that album but it wouldn't be the same without it.

I too have been the weirdo taking pictures of walls whenever I go out. Whilst at Art college in 89/90 my camera never left my side and Spray can art and a fat poster pen was all that mattered, those days haven't changed that much, well apart from I'm middle aged with house and three kids ;D and bombing days are over .
