José Parlá Print Release - Elms Lesters - 5th Dec, by Rude Copper on Dec 8, 2009 22:18:56 GMT 1, it must be said, these prints are quite stunning, st giles was apparently painted at elms, and if you look through the windows on the 1st floor, you can see the colours of the church recreated in the painting, a nice insight into parla's method. quite something, and highly recomended if you cant afford an original

José Parlá Print Release - Elms Lesters - 5th Dec, by leephill on Dec 9, 2009 0:21:21 GMT 1, I popped into Elms today and was torn between St Giles and 184th. As Rudecopper mentioned, the colours in the print were inspired by the colouring of the church. After hearing that story I just had to pull the trigger on the St Giles. The context makes the print really work for me.
Elms said that these prints were a year in the making and that technically they believe these are among the best quality prints of 2009. As Silky's pictures show, I agree with them.

Elms Lesters would have been a great place for Parla to work doing some painting. Its an amazing building, really inspiring! and feeling like a bit of an oasis slap bang in the middle of the hustle and bustle of London.

I can confirm this. I was told that for the sake of young children and expectation mothers they were going to limit distribution of this image to banksy.info

José Parlá Print Release - Elms Lesters - 5th Dec, by dinomaa on Dec 9, 2009 13:57:00 GMT 1, Still can't make myself want one of these enough to shell out £750 on a glorified ink jet print. Even kept out of the sun how long can those colors last? 25 -35 years tops. Thought the latest Connor prints have shown that we never need to see giclee again.
but... they really are the most amazing looking pieces.

Even if the 25-35 year claim is true (I am somewhat skeptical given true archival treatment), that is a small prorated price to pay for 30(ish) years of enjoyment. I can think of few greater pleasures than coming into my office daily and seeing the Parla (184th street).

Where does the 25-30 years come from? Archival inks used these days are touted as 100+ year lifespan
By that time any issues will be handed down to offspring

José Parlá Print Release - Elms Lesters - 5th Dec, by Cardiff on Dec 10, 2009 3:45:10 GMT 1, A few thoughts on my first experience dealing with Elms...
1. I spoke to Fiona twice on the phone when deciding which piece to choose and she was one of the nicest people I have dealt with. She was honest, patient, kind, and genuinely appreciative (she treated me as if I were buying a $100K Neate original).
2. My WTL was shipped overnight from London to the US...absolutely first class.
3. The print was packaged better than any print I have ever received...giant double tubes w/the inner one bagged, and the print was wrapped beyond belief!
4. The print itself is incredible...I took it to the framer as soon as it arrived this morning, and neither of us could stop staring at it. This is a guy who had never seen Parla's work before, and he was completely gushing about the quality. The depth is unlike anything I have ever seen in a print...INCREDIBLE!
Sorry if I'm bubbling over about this, but if there are any of these left (and you are on the fence), BUY THEM!

José Parlá Print Release - Elms Lesters - 5th Dec, by Gentle Mental on Dec 10, 2009 4:58:25 GMT 1, I absolutely 100% agree on Elms/Fiona - we spoke around 2am my time, and I speak with a terrible accent. But she was really cool and calm and kind...
Ok...the question now is...and I know it doesn't really matter if you love the print and all... still...
are they going all Ian Francis/Blk Mrkt on us and start making 3 sets of 100 every other month every 3 months?
