José Parlá Print Release - Elms Lesters - 5th Dec, by telsin on Dec 7, 2009 0:14:55 GMT 1, I have been so impressed with parlas prints and I never thought I would I say it, but I've spent my banksy Lottery money on a parla print instead. I never thought any print could fill the banksy void but these have. I'm Over the moon.

José Parlá Print Release - Elms Lesters - 5th Dec, by RBK on Dec 7, 2009 2:20:23 GMT 1, My camera phone is rubbish indoors and I was shaking I was so excited about my purchase lol
I figured that was the case G-Man Glad everyone is so excited - and I think it's refreshing everyone buying these are definitely getting them on the wall (where they should be!)

Well there's no way that mine will be staying in it's tube for too long. Will get mine framed early in the New Year. I've been so tempted to take it out of its tube but have resisted on the advice of Elms - will let the framer do it!

José Parlá Print Release - Elms Lesters - 5th Dec, by spirit on Dec 7, 2009 10:44:21 GMT 1, I went down on Saturday with the intention of seeing how the prints looked in reality (as the pictures on the elms site were so small) and perhaps picking up a St Giles. I got there just after twelve, waited in line for perhaps 5 minutes and then was ushered up the stairs.
I thought all 3 prints looked stunning in the flesh, but I quickly decided that for me it was between St Giles and WTL - but I couldn't make up my mind which to go for as I only had the funds for one print. I joined the queue to buy but kept going back to have another look. As I neared the front desk I still hadn't made up my mind and thought I would have to make a spur of the moment decision when they asked me which print I wanted. However, when I realised that none of the prints were going to sell out it really took the pressure off and I withdrew from the queue and enjoyed a couple of glasses of mulled wine and a mince pie safe in the knowledge that I could take my time and come to a considered opinion.
In the end I went with St Giles and have absolutely no regrets at all. It's probably the most subtle of the 3 (and also the smallest) and although I felt WTL had the most initial impact, I think that St giles is the one that will give me the most pleasure and be easiest to live with in the long term. It really is a thing of beauty and although it was expensive I think it was worth every penny. I would rather have this on my wall than any other print I own.
For me these prints were without doubt the best release of the year (St Giles is the only print I have bought this year). The quality is exceptional and I felt the combination of Giclee and silk screen worked very well together. I honestly thought I would never have the opportunity to own a Parla as his originals are way out of my budget and I had thought it unlikely he would produce any prints - so I am completely over the moon.
The prints looked great in their John Jones white box frames, but I think I will probably go for the kind of dark wood frame that I have seen a few of Parla's water colours done in.
Nice to meet a couple of forum members - it must have been Sundowner I chatted to near the end as he went back to get a St Giles too.

José Parlá Print Release - Elms Lesters - 5th Dec, by rrrich on Dec 7, 2009 14:36:25 GMT 1, Just back from picking mine up. Had a friend get one on the day, just in case they were gone by today as I was out of the country. Went for World Touring Letter and though biased, I liked it by far and away the most. Really vibrant colours and the detail up close is excellent. Love the overruns too onto the border. Can't wait to get it on the wall. Credit card gets to take even more of a hammering!
The John Jones pricelist is useful as it has a spec for the framing, so if anyone wants tips and doesn't have it, let me know and I can pm the details.

If you send me a PM then I will send you some of my Mum's mince pies, they are the nuts (I'm biased)
This has nothing to do with this thread.

Great post Spirit and good to meet you too! Having got my two prints home and showing the missus, she promptly told me I should have bought all three (particularly as WTL was her favourite).
I was fortunate enough to manage to get a WTL too - just not too sure where I'm going to fit all three! ;D
My advice to anyone who is considering any of these is to go for it - you will not be disappointed. These prints really are stunning and IMHO leave all other prints I've seen this year in the shade.
