Matt Small, by Heavyconsumer on Jul 27, 2008 20:30:36 GMT 1, The quality of the print is excellent as well. Matt is a bloody genius imo and I agree with Graeme, how more of his multiples haven't sold out is odd. I think that this could perhaps be down to people's reluctance to hang a facial portrait of a complete stranger on their wall at home, however stunningly executed.

Have to disagree completely. Some of the best pieces in my collection are images of complete strangers.

Just to be clear Neil, I don't disagree with you, I was just speculating as to one possible reason his prints aren't as popular as some other artists, who are nowhere near his class imo. As stated I have the utmost respect for Matt's work and hold him in very high regard. I also love those 3 pieces of yours, of which my clear favourite is Matt's. Who painted the bottom one? Haven't seen that before, it's mighty interesting.

The last one is by Swiss Artist Luka Anticevic.

Matt Small, by top on Jul 27, 2008 22:40:50 GMT 1, one of my favorite prints from Matt, and seeing the process of printing at the BRP print show made it even more special.
An experience shared by many, another member discussed the night with me and I just had to have an 'etched moses' based on the enthusiasm and buzz around it.
Didn't Matt give the plates to some kids? ..before BRP had finished with them? hehehe
I have spoken with Matt a couple of times now about his etchings - he holds them very close to his heart, you can hear it in his voice and with his body language..awesome
Matt is a very affable bloke whom loves a beer and a chat..make him happy and get him a beer when you meet him at a show! (..helpful tip- you'd best catch him early! ;D )
Last I heard, he was teaching the youth how to paint..good bloke Taking a timeout too..believe he was fed up doing stuff for shows, preferring to just paint..
Yes Graeme, it is very bizarre how some of his original works and prints have not sold..
Maybe the pricing structure was wrong at the time..too much too soon maybe?
Expect him to come out of the shadows soon..

Matt Small, by Coach on Jul 27, 2008 23:39:54 GMT 1, I personally think, and have said this to a few people for a while, that Matt is the most talented artist in this scene (for want of a better phrase). I have had the pleasure of chatting to him once, and he does seem to be a top fella. It still distresses me that I havnt yet been able to pick up one of his pieces.

Matt Small, by graeme501 on Jul 28, 2008 0:12:24 GMT 1, i think his talent is immense, and another thing to note, from this forum, and on his website, is that he is very much involved in charity and helping and teaching children, which is fantastic
ive had the pleasure of meeting him in an impromptu mini-forum drinking session, which was brilliant

Matt Small, by jonpud on Jul 28, 2008 9:01:33 GMT 1, There is a photo kicking around of Matt Small holding a laptop covered in paint, it was taken at Cargo and he had just finished a portrait using vivid blues and reds?
It's been posted on here before, anyone got any idea of how to find it?
The piece he did was awesome!

Matt Small, by jonpud on Jul 28, 2008 10:02:06 GMT 1, Been trying to locate this for months! Want it on my wall but did hear a rumor that Matt wasn't happy with the finished product and so binned it!!
It is a little extreme even by Matt's standards, or perhaps a better word would be explosive! Love it regardless so if anyone has any info on its whereabouts please drop me a line.

Matt Small, by mole on Jul 28, 2008 10:43:25 GMT 1, The piece created at Cargo was not binned and has in fact been increased in size to 6ft x 4ft. The original along with various other pieces from the Planet Patrol sessions will be going into an exhibition to be held later this year. Keep an eye on www.planetpatrol.co.uk or join the mailing list for further info. Hope this helps. PP Crew!

Nobody else does that - ok perhaps OSG

Matt Small, by doughy on Jul 28, 2008 13:22:42 GMT 1, For me personally, I think what may put people off hanging his pieces on their wall may be the sheer power the faces/images have in them, the colours used bringing features and expressions to life. This sounds a bit strange, but they feel in a strange way very real. Am I talking twaddle or do I make some kind of sense?
