Beejoir exhibition, by BunnyBoiler on Feb 29, 2008 10:47:56 GMT 1, so far no comments on the art of the show.... anyone? Am I the only one who was let down by the show?
I felt let down as well. I did think the small room in the back had the best artwork though. Choes work was much stronger in my option.

Beejoir exhibition, by Oliver Garland on Feb 29, 2008 10:52:49 GMT 1, thought the beejoir skulls were interesting and worked really well together as sets of 5. the newspaper ones had been done before but his take was quite fresh on it and I liked it. I didnt really get the roses but to be honest thought they looked interseting and unlike anything in the show. I loved the Cyclops pieces in the last room, the small ones. Bargain seeing as they come framed too.

Beejoir exhibition, by insite on Feb 29, 2008 10:57:35 GMT 1, so far no comments on the art of the show.... anyone? Am I the only one who was let down by the show ?
Only seen a few photos so that's all I've got to go on but no Mcnuts you're not alone. The Evening Standard pieces reminded me too much of K-Guys fag packets, O.K. (well some depending on message) as paste ups but wouldn't really want them framed. Also if I was spending money on this type of thing then it would be Dr D before any of this. The rest of Chris' stuff, I don't really get the idea of such expensive protest art, who's buying and why ? maybe there's some deep seated irony in getting people to spend so much but it just makes me feel excluded.
Quite like the mau-mau but get your point about it being included, sorry cyclops it doesn't do it for me.
I would have been interested to see Kate Westerholts stuff but no-one seems to have taken any pics. Don't know what that says about me though most excited to see some cross stitch must be getting old

Beejoir exhibition, by sand on Feb 29, 2008 11:11:41 GMT 1, I was a bit underwhelmed to be honest.
I thought that the LV statues looked awful..
The newspaper pieces have already be done..and I prefered Ronzo's at last years 'Stolen Space Summer Show'.
I just don't get Cyclops work..the highlight of the show for me were the Mau Mau works..fantastic canvas works.

Beejoir exhibition, by Guest on Feb 29, 2008 11:25:33 GMT 1, The show was a complete let down, badly organized, people jumping the queue to buy prints. With most of them destined for ebay, but thats up to them, not the most desirable of prints and not likely to make much profit on them. Now onto the Art, Beejoir, just the same old stuff, yet more skulls, money, and gold leaf. Why anyone would want the roses is beyond me. The back room was like a high school art room, no a primary school art room, the only thing missing were potato paintings.

Beejoir exhibition, by mammal2 on Feb 29, 2008 11:32:45 GMT 1, I thought the show was okay! Was not blown away by anything but the beer! Got quite mashed quite quickly! I thought the LV statue was cool but at 6k plus VAT i think the message is a little lost. The roses were shite, and the 15k canvas was quite cool but looked a wee bit A-level. I got to hang out with Eelus and Adam K made me spit beer all over a chap with laughter. A wee bit went over the statue also. Great times. Curley nearly got conned! But he held his ground. I just feel that now a days galleries are just making prices up. Do you like that? Yeah, how much? err 2500! err no. Loved the free beer.s**t loads of flippers....Bloody loads. Scramble at the door. "Ive been waiting here 2 hours to get this print to wack on the bay" Yeah, well done, what about the wife at home who is getting it from your best mate, being filled out like an application form, cause you spend all your time concerned with making 75 pounds profit off the bay. Way to go! Overall, this just confirms in my mind that Banksy is streets ahead. Cyclops was quite cool though. Interesting. The Mau Mau i quite liked also, in particular one canvas. Oi Oi

Haven't been to the show yet and will reserve judgment until I have. Though this is definitely the piece I'm most interested in seeing. Was only one final version produced?
If so, who was lucky enough to nab it and how much for?

Beejoir exhibition, by marshman on Feb 29, 2008 12:11:46 GMT 1, I had a great time as I always do as getting to chat to people about whatever over a couple of beers and a bit of art isn't a bad way to spend a Thursday night. ;D Sarah from BRP and I were having a laugh at being on CNN last week and getting grief from a couple of people.......oh, "this is Sam, The Art Collector!" You know who you were.....
Highlight for me was getting this little baby after a moment of moral dilemma:
MORAL DILEMMA: Its from a guy from Norway called Martin (didn't get his last name). I was jibber jabbing with John from Souled Out Studios outside and saw Martin pull a record out of his bag, sign it and then fix it to the fence opposite the gallery. I say to John that now I have a dilemma, as I loved the look of the hand on the record, but its a street piece etc etc, but that if I dont take it some other C*** will and probably stick it on ebay.
Anyway, over wanders Martin, John introduces us and I tell him my dilemma. He just laughs, pulls out another hand sprayed version, signs it in front of me and tells me now I don't have the dilemma! You just gotta love stuff like that!!!
Oh and whilst all this is going on Sean Pertwee is stood next to us. he was a pretty nice bloke, got his hands on the gold christ ;-)

Ace, cheers Martin appreciated the gesture my friend good talking with you and John.
p.s thanks Alexa at TLSG for kindly wrapping my record in an indsutrial way to stop it getting smashed to pieces as I was getting more smashed as the night went on. It made it back to sunny Folkestone intact!
