Vol. 3: Static, by Ågent ßacardi on Aug 30, 2007 19:19:13 GMT 1, It's time for another artist interview!
This time on the hot seat, we have the collective Static from www.welikestatic.com! Just who are they comprised of? How many people make up Static? What's the inspiration behind their work? And what can we expect for the next release? What's the square root of 136,131? Who framed Roger Rabbit? Wanna know? Just ask!
As per previous interviews, we welcome all members to post their questions in this thread. The artist (in this case, the collective) will then post their answers to all your questions. Think of it as a virtual meet-and-greet session!
Don't be shy... fire away! They love the attention!! ;D

Vol. 3: Static, by welikestatic on Sept 3, 2007 19:56:53 GMT 1, Who is our nxt release with
As of late September, we are proud to say we will be working with a brand new and really exciting gallery called Amilas
Here is a few words from them...
"Amilas works with a limited amount of artists (about seven). Keeping our cards close to our chest at the moment but Peter kennard is on of our artists, also solo one, Zeus and Haroun Haward which we are obviously very chuffed about. We will be developing new originals and prints with artists and do not do any third party sales, so you wont find us trying to sell an unsigned j and j! just great work from a few great artists."
They are still working on their site (due to be launched late sept) but have a holding page up at the moment
Check out
www.amilasart.com/shop.asp
and get yourselves on the mailing list ;D

Vol. 3: Static, by welikestatic on Sept 3, 2007 20:26:41 GMT 1, your images seem very graphic.. have you ever studied graphic design?
So who makes up Static? And what are all your backgrounds?
The nucleus of the collective is comprised of two lads who met many moons ago at art college and draws from backgrounds in fine art, graphic communication, art and design, photography, ceramics as well as a healthy dose of the ground breaking series, Water-colour Challenge and the seriously ahead of its time, Art Attack.

Vol. 3: Static, by welikestatic on Sept 4, 2007 17:11:21 GMT 1, What piece of art would you most like to own?
There is a long list, but if we had to narrow it don't to two prints that we would love to have on the walls in the Static studio. That would have to be a Micallef 'Light Angel Bomber #1' and/ or a Banksy 'Applause'

Vol. 3: Static, by welikestatic on Sept 4, 2007 17:29:45 GMT 1, I'm always curious about how design collectives work. Do you all collaborate toward a single piece or each do individual works?
The original ideas/ initial concepts come from us individually, then when we start to develop them we work together until we come up with a final piece.
We are both keen to explore a wide variety of methods of working as well as different materials and with us both coming from alternative artistic backgrounds it gives us a large scope of influences and working practices.
