They're part of the original print run, probably prints that have had failed payments. I managed to pinch a JD a couple of weeks ago, i've not noticed any appearing since!

EXTRA MICALLEFS, by kingdomcome on Apr 4, 2007 12:29:07 GMT 1, I take your point. But JD was sold at the Ghetto so I dont see how they could have had failed payments as people payed in cash or with the credit cards which I think wouldnt have worked had the buyer not had the funds and anyway by that stage they would have been long gone with their print!

EXTRA MICALLEFS, by dave313perry on Apr 4, 2007 12:32:14 GMT 1, i purchased a jd about a month ago, no.30 if that clears anything up, so guess it must have been from original print run, maybe it was a few of the lower numbers held back by POW, that they apparently found lying around!?!?

EXTRA MICALLEFS, by Dellboyy on Apr 4, 2007 12:33:24 GMT 1, I can't tell you for certain why of course, but the only things i can think of is either a failed payment, or they didn't sell all the prints at the ghetto maybe by accident!
All i can tell you is the one i got a couple of weeks ago is numbered from the 500 print run.

I've always preferred JD for some reason, looks damn impressive in the flesh!
I should be taking mine to the framers this weekend!

If the print run was for 500, should there be spares lying around? What about the poor peeps who cued for hours in December and were told they had all sold out!

Quite a few prints that were 'sold out' from the ghetto from various artists were available after from pow... maybe they just meant the ghetto allocation was sold out!
Where pow is concerned, sold out never actually means no more are ever available!

First pow doesn't sell every single print from a print run, they are often only given a limited allocation with the rest being available from the artist's site. For example Lucy McLauchlan & Stanley Donwood both sell from their own sites. I suppose they classify the ghetto as different from the pow website.
As for returns, failed payments, or 'finding down the back of a sofa' jobs, i imagine most is unavoidable with the numbers of prints that must be around the place.

yes, numbered from the original run I got a JD - #181/500
I take your point. But JD was sold at the Ghetto so I dont see how they could have had failed payments as people payed in cash or with the credit cards which I think wouldnt have worked had the buyer not had the funds and anyway by that stage they would have been long gone with their print!
with how hectic SG was they obviousy forgot / missed some - these were put on the site a while ago...some of those that were sold obviously had payment problems - they reappeared on the site a while later - which is when I got mine

they're not "spares" they are ones that didn't get sold

no
