fucking hell, if i'd had said there was also a thanks in the back to nick walker, banksy and pure evil along with this it would have been ok.
Funny how peoples opinions change so quickly with the tide, at one point or another you would have considered buying a blek so dont give this rubbish out.
Im not saying i love bleks stuff but if you dont think he started off the street STENCIL movement and got other artists in on it then your an arse.

What Blek did do though was to change the way that they were used. He took a medium which had been used to produce propaganda that could sometimes be viewed as art and produced art which could be viewed as propaganda. I'm not sure if this is conceptual or philosophical (or even if there's a difference) but I do think it was an important milestone in the evolution of graffiti. Much of Bleks work is conceptual as well, the shadow of a rat, the reproduction of classics in an outdoor environment instead of being confined in museums and his dancers performing in the streets. Having lived on site for years these are concepts which appeal to my way of thinking, I've been a rat and I've lived parts my life outdoors more than under a roof. You can not like his work, I don't like much of it myself but you can't dismiss his significance to this "scene" he didn't invent it but he did do things first, no Banksy didn't copy him but he did come after him and so in some way does owe him a debt.

Everyone was on about a return to the old D style after Pop Tart, CliChe etc and thats what SI was about. The reaction has been completely over the top. I'm looking forward to seeing the new stuff later in the year and I bet D will be everyones new found hero again. So f**kin what if Christine Aguilera wanted a piece no one slags off other artists for selling to famous people. Give it a f**kin rest everyone otherwise we are in danger of killing a career before it's even got properly started.
100% Cocteau, that said D will prevail irrespective of what is said on here. I was in a gallery in San Francisco recently and the whole buzz was about D.

Banksy is very obvious, you're left in absolutely no doubt the point he is making. The work consistently provokes thought, like Ken Livingstone, but remains obvious.
With Blek the ambiguity is always there. To make the point look at the sheep print - as a print it's dull, but in the context of a government building in Argentina it inherits an altogether different feeling.
As for DFace, the lack of message really grows on me, fine art delivered to the street (it's just a shame so little of it is on the street). There is little political point.
The medium and lack of message, for me, is the point.
I'll get me coat

And D art for as wrab said just looks great which I think at the end of the day is enough for me (not being shallow but thats why I brought B originally, not for some deep reason back in 03/04, I must admit I brought QV not even thinking what the reason behind it was that QV thought lesbianism (is that a word?) didn't exist and was illegal at the time (I think thats the reason but please let me know if I;m wrong), now I know I love mine more, v clever but did first buy because it was a striking image) I do love a good bold image.
