Eelus • Shat-at Print & Canvas, by mose on Feb 24, 2018 13:19:18 GMT 1, A total classic. This is the best format(I believe) of one of the great, defining images of the 'urban art' era. Back when everything was new, before the 'game' separated winners and losers, before Instagram likes, before Christies selling Banksy works, before the art we are fans of became an asset class, this image was part of that early, primordial forum soup. Personally, my tastes have changed quite a bit but there will always be a soft spot in my heart(and likely my bank balance) for this.
A+++++
This is history, not only of the genre but of the forum communities that came together around it.

Thanks for letting me know, looks like I’ll be keeping it. mose, above, is quite right in his praise for this piece though.
It is a classic image from the early days of the UK 'urban' art scene, before all the chancers and hangers on ran said scene into the ground with their increasingly tired, reductive, and dull imagery. Eelus himself has certainly become far less interesting thanks to that appallingly twee, rainbow rain nonsense that he was churning out a few years ago. Sadly, this scene is always chasing the next best thing rather than the foundations so classic images such as this may not always get the love they deserve..
BTW, mine was a khaki green but I think your pink looks more striking so £1000 might not be too far off the mark.

Yes I saw those but thought the colour ones looked a bit cheap, silver one was nice though.

Hmmm, not sure I’ve ever heard someone say his work looked cheap but to each his own. I was after one of the bubble gum color but it sold out seemingly in seconds.

Maybe cheap was the wrong word, but I didn’t like them.

I thought the same thing. The chrome one was nice but the others looked poorly made. Especially for the price.

Those bubblegum colored ones, especially the purple one, were actually available for quite some time. Very easy to cart one if you wanted to.

I think you and I may have a different idea of “quite some time” as both the purple and bubble gun colorways sold out the day they were released. Just a guess, but I bet the chrome would have sold out too if it had not been 300 pounds more than the other two colors. All of that aside, the point of my post was not to get into a debate about the quality of E’s work or how fast or slow his editions sell out, but rather to simply say I thought the print and sculpture would look cool displayed together.

You are rather strange... you said the bubblegum colored ones seemingly sold out ‘in seconds’. They were avilable some half hour after release and probably even longer. All I did was correct that as you seem to have wanted one, and didn’t mean to ridicule you. Don’t get too touchy.

Actually I wrote “seemingly in seconds”, but thanks for correcting me as I should have said I didn’t log on and try the second they went on sale, but I knew it was quickly as I tried within the hour. Again, thanks for moderating my comment...everyone feels much better.
