D*Face Pop Tart Print, by taco on Jun 30, 2007 16:51:21 GMT 1, Thanks for the pic Thats exactly how I plan on framing mine, cream and black metal. But I dont think Im going to bother cutting out the matte for the embossing to shine through (kind of distracting IMO), Im happy with the numbering and sig.
think I'm gonna float mount mine, but gonna wait till someone else does theirs first...

D*Face Pop Tart Print, by romanywg on Jun 30, 2007 19:00:43 GMT 1, Personally I think a wider frame works better. Whenever I see a thin frame on a large print it reminds me of a poster for some reason.

I think it just depends on D*s mood at the time with some AP's I have others that are signed 3 different ways, some have doodles and some don't.... you just get what you get... ;D
Hope that helps

D*Face Pop Tart Print, by jonvespa on Feb 28, 2008 2:33:39 GMT 1, so, i have been making payments on a blue tart for the past few months, i bought it off a very nice seller on auction sab. got the print this past week and took it to the framers on monday, when i unrolled it, i found a quite severe crease/damage on it above the leftside signature, probably about an inch or two in diameter.
the very nice seller said they are more than happy to refund my money, but realistically, how likely is it that i can find another blue tart for $2400 shipped again? i contact a beverly hills artwork restorer who said they charge minimum $800-$1000, but when they heard about the damage, they did not believe it could be fixed (they typically work on museum quality originals, not prints such as this).
heres a pic of the most severe damage (there are several other scratches and a small crease that will not be noticeable when framed)
what do you guys think? i really dont want to drop $4k+ on another tart.....especially a yellow one....blue is what i really wanted.
jon

D*Face Pop Tart Print, by noodles1 on Feb 28, 2008 2:52:15 GMT 1, Bugger! Thats shity!
You have two choices as far as i see it. 1) Keep this one which you got for a good price given current D* market, live with damage and have image tho price on this one will rise slow. 2)Refund, Get another if you can for minimum ยฃ1800 and watch price rise fast
You considered getting it repaired, then bite bullett, get refund and get another at higher price while prices are still manageble. You wont love the damaged one as you should as you will always know its there and when these babys are goin for silly money, you will kick yourself for not doing so. As much as im more of an Art lover than a money lover, I would be slightly dissapointed if my print was worth alot less than another of the same.

D*Face Pop Tart Print, by Photoxtc on Feb 28, 2008 3:56:01 GMT 1, this is a tough one... how many people are looking for Tarts right now and how many of the blue ones are even showing up at all???
I know if you look hard enough one will pop up but and there is the big BUT, how much will it be and what kind of battle would there be to get it???
you not only will have to contend with the usual D*face fans but you will also have to deal with the people such as..... ( I won't say it) that are trying to jump on the gravy train and cash in on the D*face wave right now....
I do feel for you and I know how bad you have been wanting one of these...
There are a few tricks you can use which have worked for me in getting small creases out but this one may be a little tough....
Good luck mate

D*Face Pop Tart Print, by Heavyconsumer on Feb 28, 2008 4:43:26 GMT 1, I'd take a refund every time! I had a very similar situation with a less valuable Dface recently. In your position, I know that when I've had a product's condition misrepresented, I've taken the refund where possible. There was one occasion when I had already left feedback and noticed minor damage later, but it is pretty unnoticable. I really feel empathy for you though, as this time it's gonna be near impossible to replace the piece and certainly for the same money you paid. If only these sellers would accurately describe items, rather than hoping we as buyers will just eat it and not kick up a stink. We'd probably still pay the doh in many cases, but not feel bad about it after. Makes me soooo angry!
Bottom line, I couldn't not take the refund. I know I'd see the crease before the image when I looked at it! That may make me petty, but the ยฃ1200/$2400 is wasted if you can't enjoy it freely imo. If you'll get a little cringe when ever you focus on the piece, is it even worth half that? I suppose if you have enough cash in the bank maybe, but I would rather only have art that makes me happy - otherwise who needs it?

D*Face Pop Tart Print, by Harveyn on Feb 28, 2008 10:31:43 GMT 1, Absolutely no choice, 100% refund. You will regret any other decision (unless the seller is giving it away).
The recent DFace price rises will subside. I think he is a star and we will see a gradual rise in his prices offer a number of years. I firmly believe that.
But the crazy prices people are looking to achieve today are not sustainable. This is a short term blip and I am not even confident that some of the prices that pieces are being sold at are being achieved. I hate private listing auction and distrust them completely.
Its like the Nick Walker story. Nick is fantastic but his prices will come back to something more realistic in the very near future and then steadily rise.
IMO
