OLYMPICS - Beijing 2008 - POST HERE ONLY, by Ruggs on Aug 8, 2008 21:31:58 GMT 1, I was off work today and didn't have much interest in the opening ceremony at all, but I caught a glimpse of the TV and stood there thinking to myself 'how did they do that', 'wow' and 'f@*king hell that was unbelievable'. I couldn't take my eyes off it. It was pretty bloody amazing stuff. I can't imagine London 2012 topping that one somehow.

I wanted to go, but saw panorama last week and was amazed at the censorship, especially with the tiananmen square disaster victim, so second thoughts for me.

I'm preeetty sure they showed a guy with a spray can just before the big red bus came alongside him. Could that mean that they are gonna so some graffiti stuff in 2012?

Spot on JG. I read about this in the morning paper. The rest of the world have used the Gold medal tally to rate the national positions, however the USA has used the total amount of medals accrued over the games, which would put them top. A bit petty really but underlines the degree of politics attached to sport in general.
