Capello, by biggayal on Dec 13, 2007 12:42:20 GMT 1, With the immanent introduction of a new England manager, widely tipped to be Capello, What are peoples' thoughts to this appointment....? I for one, think that he has got a fantastic pedigree and is of an age where he's gained a lot of experience, hence, is a good choice. I personally don't go along the lines of 'He's got to be English', but it would be nice to put a number 2 in place, such as Pearce, Shearer, Adams etc. so that they can learn from an old master and enhance their own coaching skills from one of the best in the business..... Discuss

Capello, by dave313perry on Dec 13, 2007 12:45:06 GMT 1, As good as anyone else out there - anyone that will take the job that is! lets face it, its potentially career ruining!!
i think the No.2 appointment and coaches will be as important as the No1 spot! he may kick a few arses into touch anyway!

Capello, by frank11 on Dec 13, 2007 12:47:03 GMT 1, Great choice if the FA go through with it. I think someone like Pearce would benefit greatly from Capello's experience. David Beckham must be gutted tho what is he on 98 caps desperate to get to 100, and when Capello was in charge at Madrid he said DB would never play for him again

Capello, by Nuno on Dec 13, 2007 12:49:37 GMT 1, we had the english number two thing under sven, and steve maclaren was shite as number one. i think the u21 job is the best place for future england managers to start. I think if capello brings zola with him it will be a good thing, as he was and still is technically gifted. Capello has won the league with every team he has managed and in my opinion is the best available. Why we went for a middlesbourgh manager who had won nothing last time the job was open is beyond me.

common misconception!
Beckham was outed by the madrid owner/ chief exec who forced it upon Capello as Beckham boycotted contract talks with madrid for an end of year contract with LA Galaxy. it was infact Capello that went against his Boss and brought Beckham back having seen how commited and dedicated he was working in the training and the reserves, Becks then returned to score a vital goal in the very next game to arguably save Capello's job and the rest is history...he got his medal he craved!

Capello, by Curley on Dec 13, 2007 13:05:31 GMT 1, my only worry is when the press conference starts it will dawn on everyone that he does not speak english. i have no objection to a foreign manager at all but i do see not speaking English as a bit of a drawback to being the England manager.

If I remember correctly, on Football Focus about 3 or so weeks ago, one of the 'pundits' said that he was there when Capello held a presentation of some sort for English students - and that his English is infact 'understandable' already.......? Dunno if this is correct, but it would deffo make the job a fair bit easier

Agreed Arcam - it'll be good to see a few of the inflated ego's kicked in the plums!

ULRIKA FUCKIN JOHNSON!!! BITCH!!
people forget the days when Sven was god! 5-1, wins against Argentina, strolling against the minnows, strolling past Denmark 4-1!!! He just fell short a couple of times against the worlds elite, could have so easily been so different! the the dumb blonde got hold of him and tarnished his reputation and Wham Bamb! - the media articulate his sacking perfectly and tarnish his character so much so that it effects the England Team!!! only in bloody England i tell the!!!
