arsenal fans of the world unite, by tomhills1 on Jun 28, 2007 22:01:00 GMT 1, as i know there a quite a few of us on here i would be interested to guage opinion now that the sham that was henry's departure has died down somewhat. others opinions also more than welcome, obviously.
now for me, henry wanted to leave last summer but somekind of guilt or mis-guided loyalty prevented him. then he proceeded to fall into the vieira syndrome of wishing he had gone and wasted a year of both his and our lives.
for him to spout this whole nonsense of 'david dein left so that's my lot'. what complete bullshit. david dein pulls the strings in transfer negotiations, for players identified by the most diverse scouting system in europe, headed up by keith rowley and orchestrated chiefly by one arsene wenger. team talks, tactics, training sessions? pat rice and arsene. i fail to see the loss of dein as anything other that unfortunate. plus we all know once danny fizsman becomes a tax-exile in switzerland next spring he will sell to stan kroenke and dein will back as chief exec.
the crux of the issue is we are talking about a player who for a long time has been thinking he is bigger than the club. someone who is becoming more vocal in his belief that he should decide if, when and how many signings we should make. a player that has increasingly looked to make excuses and take less and less responsibility for his short-comings. mostly a player that has started to believe the hype.
now i'm not saying i wanted him to leave, far from it, but there are a couple of major problems that surround the move. firstly, if you are so excited to be going to barca that you are 'giggling like a schoolboy' when you sign, that you drop your agent because he advised against your move and then proceed to play out the pushed out victim via the media, then i lose all respect for you. secondly, the message this sends out to the rest of the world is not good. they see us selling our best player for the same price as west ham offered for darren bent, no offence but come on.
finally, anyone connected to arsenal will heed the old saying 'arsene knows'. he would not have sold a player who is 30 before the new season starts, who now is starting to get major injuries and who is at the least a distracting influence at the club, if he didn't know what he was doing.
there is no doubting we need to buy a couple of strikers, what with aliadiere gone too, but our best results last season came without henry. i will miss him, i'm grateful for some special memories and i wish him all the best in catalunia but life goes on, and it will be nice to have all the speculation over with.
p.s. anyone remember what happened to these players once they left mr wenger and north london; marc overmars, nicklas anelka, patrick vieira, emmanuel petit, robert pires, edu, ray parlour, ian wright, ashley cole? can't say we've missed a single one of them, the only slight case you could make is silvinho and gio van bronkhorst. they both did ok but we were left with ashley cole, who was good back then.
have faith.

arsenal fans of the world unite, by finlee on Jun 29, 2007 7:35:32 GMT 1, I have to admit (being a newcastle fan) I love watching arsenal. They are by far the most entertaining football in the world. The pace and passing they play at is a joy to watch. Two/three years, when they near enough went unbeaten for a season, they were playing (for me) the best football ever to be seen on the planet since football began.
I do hope arsene stays as he is a quality manager, i'd hate to see another manager come in and be as dull as chelsea.

Ok, Lesbianwednesdays, so you have 2 accounts on here. Very good, but don't pretend to be a Newcastle fan. That's lower than someone pretending to be a DFace fan, grabbing a CND print and selling it on ebay the same night. Glad there's no one on here who would do that though.

arsenal fans of the world unite, by rolyateel on Jun 29, 2007 12:56:52 GMT 1, my feelings have gone from "gutted" to "total indifference"
the david dein sh1te really wound me up...especially since it's been reported that dein's son rang Barca & asked if they were still interested
We managed 4th with Henry playing only 19 league games...and I honestly feel that if RvP had been fit all season we'd have won far more games as he was on fire.
We need to sign 2 strikers methinks...maybe Tevez? + 1 more....and maybe a quality defender for extra cover. Plus we have RvP back, Theo fit, Bendtner back to prove a point, and Adebeyor with a full season under his belt.
Arsene indeed "knows"...and I'm sure that even as fond as he was of Henry (as we all were) when he starts spouting off in the press about Dein going being a crisis...and with his injuries last season, Arsene probably didn't hesitate to farm him out. ยฃ16m in the kitty & ยฃ100k less per week in wage bill.
and as you say....who has left Arsenal for a "bigger club" & really prospered....um...no one!
I'm quite excited to see how the youngsters grow this season...especially after how well they did against chelsea in the League Cup final.
Henry who???
Oh...and Tottenscum pay ยฃ16.5M for Bent....if that doesn't highlight how overpriced England players are, I don't know what else will.

long time no speak old boy, this totally re-assures me my beliefs are correct and if the board wind their necks in for just a moment, we might be making progress sooner rather than later.
S.O.S danny fizsman: sell now!
stuey, i cried reading that, as if would have been that articulate in my praise. plus, isn't it a given now you lot get barca?
i hear they're in for fat frank now , so for those that were unsure as to whether or not arsene knows..............................well, now you do.

arsenal fans of the world unite, by Va Va Voom on Jul 1, 2007 15:24:49 GMT 1, I am I alone in being fairly excited at the prospect of a new Arsenal team emerging this season, one that is not reliant on the state of mind of its (once brilliant) captain. This should free the younger players to express themselves without the shoulder shrugging histrionics from Henry if their pass is not delivered with inch perfect precision. Dont get me wrong I loved Henry,my son & I behind the goal at Real Madrid as Titi surged through the defence to score is one of my greatest football memories.....but,he was not the player we love last season, and that was not entirely down to injuries. He wanted out and the board movements gave him an excuse that he leapt at. Best of luck Titi (unless you play the Arsenal),but dont give us all the old "love" tosh. Onwards and upwards, lets win something this season.

Didn't Wenger piss about last time his contract was due for extension? I don't think he's too bothered about TH going, he tends to get nervous once a player nears 30 (ask Ian Wright, Bergkamp, Dixon etc). Arsenal don't need to bring in a big name with Wenger (and his team) as one of the worlds best scouts! TH was nothing and being played outta postion before Wenger bought him.
Have Faith!

arsenal fans of the world unite, by tomhills1 on Jul 4, 2007 22:14:35 GMT 1, yeah, arseblog is proper good, he's got a wicked sense of humour too. saw that paul merson interview yesterday 'arsenal worry me this season' etc.... not your bankruptcy, impending divorce, relapses in to alcoholism, gambling addiction and lack of a regular income then merse? i'd take a look in the mirror first if i was you big man, you got issues.
da silva could be good value at ยฃ10m, only a bit more than we payed for jeffers and less than wiltord and reyes too. cesc speaking up today made me happy, i think he now knows what every supporter has seen week in, week out for the last two seasons and that is that the team runs through him, not henry as most of the nations media would have you believe.
i don't believe the hype about martins, seems like it's all coming from his agent to boost a transfer, bit harder now we've signed a striker so juve have been brought in to the equation. i know wenger was keen on him during his early years at inter but if we were in for him we would have got there before he went to the toon i reckon.
va va voom has made a great point about essentially last seasons potentials now being promoted to senior status with henry's departure and with that responsibility we should see the best of our youngsters. could just do with a couple of fighters but if gallas stays fit i think we will be in the top two, maybe even win it if we start well and get lucky on the injury front, not got a big squad at all now.
slowly looking forward to it now, 5 weeks saturday boys!!!
