Spanish League - La Liga, by arcam on Jun 9, 2007 21:51:12 GMT 1, Anyone else follow this?
WHAT a title race. It's one of the best title run-ins I can remember, so many twist and turns, so many late, late goals. I'm a Madrid fan myself and with one game left to play three teams can still win it. Great stuff. ;D

Spanish League - La Liga, by teatwosugars on Jun 9, 2007 22:11:43 GMT 1, Just watched the Madrid game. Must admit, I thought they'd blown it towards the end! Great game, and a great finish to the season. ;D
Glad to see they're still in with a shout though, especially after Messi's goal. Outstanding player, prone to cheating- hmmm, now which other Argentinian does this remind me of?!!

Great game, and a great finish to the season. ;D Glad to see they're still in with a shout though, especially after Messi's goal. Outstanding player, prone to cheating- hmmm, now which other Argentinian does this remind me of?!! I thought Madrid had blown it as well. As soon as Rudd scored the equaliser, I shouted out "Come on Espanyol, get another goal" and within seconds of me saying that they did. ;D It was Karma for Messi's cheating goal.
It's such a shame Beckhams off to the States as he's playing some of the best football of his career. He seems to have stepped up a level after being left out by Capello. I keep hoping he'll change his mind, not just for Madrid but also for England.

Spanish League - La Liga, by tomhills1 on Jun 10, 2007 11:30:28 GMT 1, i haven't got sky, so a lot of what goes on passes me by these days. used to watch la liga religously, always followed madrid, ever since the '98 season i think it was when the ultras pulled the goal down in the build up to the champions league semi-final second leg. i even went out there is 2001 to watch them play barca, 2-2 with a rivaldo winner disallowed in injury time, man it went off big time outside - a white clio ended up driving through a merchandise stall and straight through a shop window, tear gas all round!
really glad they did it last night. the last time i remember drama on the last day in spain was 4/5 years ago when barca and valencia were fighting for 4th place. barca had to beat them at the nou camp in the last game and in added time, rivaldo flicked the ball up on the edge of the box with his back to goal and did an over-head kick, beating canizares and nestling in the bottom corner to complete his hat-trick, win the game and book barca a place in next seasons champions league.
valencia did alright in the end, they won the uefa cup that following season. managed by rafa benitez, only his second managerial job i think after getting tenerife promoted.
it's the best standard, la liga, anywhere in the world. even the teams at the bottom play football and the players are all blessed with superb technique. doesn't happen by accident though, they just coach the kids differently out there, could learn a thing or two from them.
good luck to all madridistas!!
and the ultra surs

Spanish League - La Liga, by streetgirl on Jun 13, 2007 17:59:17 GMT 1, There are tons of online outlets for all la liga games, been lucky enough to go to both the Nou Camp and the Bernabeu...awesome stadiums but always feel atmostphere is lost when you can't see and hear the entire stadium... Anyhow, awesome title race. Hope Becks walks away with a trophy And their season finishing later has given me something to still bet on. Ra!

Great last night- I'm glad it wasn't an anti-climax.
Add to that the under 21's game and is been a superb evening of football. Wish it was like this every Sunday night!
