If you've actually seen his work you might realise most would take more than one person to produce. I'm pretty sure it's not just down to laziness.

It would seem so. Maybe he's jealous that the RA didn't chose him as the first living artist to be given a solo show
And as for having a problem with work not being entirely original/all the artist's own work, where do we begin?

IMAGINE... 'OWN ART' PROGRAMME ON BBC1 NOW!, by RYCA on Dec 3, 2009 0:51:16 GMT 1, anish kapoor, the guy is awesome. any designer/artist with an imagination and ideas so big that it requires a skilled staff/team to help make their ideas a reality, should not be jeered. This has been common practice for centuries (and more)
Isambard Kingdom Brunel never actually built anything, does this make him any less of a engineer ?

The real work is in the imagination. Also the stubborn insistence on perfection is no short coming, its the mark of truly great individuals. I'll be honest, I think you're on the wind up, as I find it very hard for anyone not to find something to admire in Kapoors work, if not, then I'll have to put my old man hat on and say 'one day sonny, you'll understand'

Stubborn insistence on perfection is no short coming thats very true MB But what is lost is where so many ARTISTS today employ others to construct their ideas and the hands on passion that can only be conveyed when both idea and that direct involvement is lost Its like taking a photograph of a photograph of a photograph to many links are lost

IMAGINE... 'OWN ART' PROGRAMME ON BBC1 NOW!, by Pattycakes on Dec 4, 2009 9:25:36 GMT 1, Cartrain, you really don't seem to get it. Artist's throughout history have had assistants, Michelangelo used a number of assistants notably in the sistine chapel commission - does that make him less of an artist? Rodin didn't cast or re-size a single bronze in his entire lifetime, that was down to assistants, he only made the plasters, does that make the Thinker less of a work? Artists who are successful in their lifetime employ assistants, it enables them to create bigger better works, works that on their own they simply could not accomplish. It's all part of the process of creating art, and has been for hundreds of years, who are you to challenge practices established by the likes of Michelangelo? You're a silly little boy with very limited experience, why don't you go away and read some books rather than spend your time stealing pencils - then at least you might be able to contribute in a semi-intelligent way.

Why did you have to reduce your response down to insults? up until that point i thought you had a point

Like most of Anish Kapoor's stuff? Or Frank Gehry's stuff for instance? I dont understand this at all... If you want to argue for arguments sake, when u make your collages using pictures from books, arent u employing the works of others in your work? Why dont u go and take photos of bush/ blair yourself? where's the hands-on passion?

IMAGINE... 'OWN ART' PROGRAMME ON BBC1 NOW!, by gozgoz on Dec 4, 2009 16:47:17 GMT 1, Hang on.
Isnt banksy your idol?
why doesnt it annoy you that Banksy doesnt do a lot of work on his own as well? He sure didnt handmake those statutes or that huge ice cream truck or the thinker statute or the olive carved watchtowers?
Seems like he clearly "employ[ed] others to construct [his] ideas"?
